:::timebeach777::: 2001 Base

What's up my fellow Luders!! I decided to start my build thread since I know I'll be modding my car to no end (or until I'm broke) and want to see the progression. I bought "Kisa" (named after a beautiful young lady I met in El Paso) in August of 2011 bone stock with 105k mi. I believe she had a respray that was cheap and is chipping now in various places. The interior was perfect minus the worn buttons on the stock stereo and the silver peeling on the driver side handle and window switch. Here's my mods so far:
Interior
JDM Type-S leather seats with red switching
JDM Si-R Red Center Console
JDM Si-R Red Sun Visors
JDM Si-R Red Map Light
JDM Si-R Red Carpet
JDM Si-R Red Glove box
JDM Type-S Red Stitched Shift Boot
JDM Type-S Red Stitched Shift Knob
JDM Type-S Door Panels with Red Lens Courtesy Lights
JDM Red Switched Steering Wheel
JDM Type-S Carbon Fiber Gauge Cluster Bezel
JDM Stainless PRELUDE Door Sills
OEM Carbon Fiber Trim Kit
Fake Mugen Pedal Covers
JTC Short Shifter
Exterior
JDM Type-S Front Grille (wish it was the gun metal one)
JDM Foglights with 3k HIDs
JDM Type-S Front Lip
OEM Window Visors
Depo Projector Headlights with 6k HIDs
Type Sh Rims
Engine
JDM Type-S Intake
Mugen Header
Custom 2.5" Cat Back Exhaust
Vibrant Muffler
Suspension
Mugen Showa Coilovers
JDM Type-S Front Strut Tower Bar
Megan Racing Rear Strut Tower Bar (CL find for $20!!)
ICE
Pioneer headunit
Viper 5901 Two Way Alarm with Remote Start
Parts Waiting for Install
Twin Piston Legend Calipers (maybe not because I hate bleeding my brakes!)
Future Plans
Mugen catback
EK9 JDM rims
Here's some pics (sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but I'd rather buy car parts than a camera!):
My first day with Red at the dealership

Oh wait!! That's the car I wanted to buy but can't afford right now. It belongs to the owner of the Acura dealership but he won't sell it either

Here's Red the Day She Came Home with Me!!

Mugen Showas

Before Install

After Install

Engine Bay

Rear Strut Tower Bar

Type-S Front Grill

Interior Pics

Parts Waiting for Install

Comments and ideas welcome!! Thanks everyone!!

Tim

Thanks Racon88! I had a couple Civics (99 DX sedan & 00 EX coupe) that I went crazy on (rims, body kits, carbon fiber, neon, loud stereos) but too much attention and they were both broken in to and stolen repeatedly so now I'm going for a JDM look that only true Honda enthusiasts appreciate while staying off the radar of the police and car thieves!!

Thanks SoFlaKidd!! I'm working on getting the red JDM center console and sunvisors to match but keep a two tone look to the interior.

You're totally right. I'm probably gonna get that next depending on what rare or JDM parts are available at the time.

I got mine used for $200 but it has a small hole on the inside of the canister that needs to be fixed because packing material is starting to come out. Thinking about getting a FUJITSUBO LEGALIS R exhaust because I like the sound and the smaller tip...plus the JDM bling factor...

I got to rebuild them first. Just scrubbed off a ton of grime, found them at the junkyard on a 94 Legend coupe. Can't decide if I'm gonna paint them black with a red Honda sticker or red with a black Honda sticker...

That's funny, I got mine for $200 also but luckily there's no problems with it! Fudjisubo would be cool too tho!

That is funny!! Mine was a Craigslist find and the first thing I did to the car! I seen the Fujisubo on ebay for $559 shipped so I'm getting really tempted to get it soon...half the price of a Mugen...

What kind of gains do you get from those calipers?

Nice!!! I really love that red glove box looks cool.
And I don't think you get gains with better brake calipers? Just better braking ability I think. Unless Im wrong idk.

Added weight...really. The twin-piston area is smaller than the single piston area but the benefit is the ability to use the 28mm rotor and pads from the legend which can stand higher temps because the set-up is designed for a car that's 600 lbs. heavier than our Preludes. This is good for guys who slam their brakes alot at medium speeds, like on the freeeway going 40-70 mph. If you are happy with the braking power you have now, there's no real reason to do it. I got them cheap at the junkyard ($13 each). I still want to rebuild them, another $30, and have to get the rotors and pads to match. This is why I said "maybe not" next to their pics in my first post. I'm still doing my research to weigh the pros and cons of this set-up and I strongly suggest anyone else thinking about do the same!!

Thanks man! I had to modify the rails by cutting some of the excess plastic on the wheels sit under the dash, bend a support beam under the dash and relocate the mounting points to get it to fit right. You lose the ability to lock it as well since there's no locking mechanism on the JDM model. Looks good in a red Prelude though

There are no cons except the time you have to put in to do the swap. I have them and they are night and day different then my stock Prelude calipers. It's really a no brainer..

Nice build you got yourself by the way

LOL mine too was from CL! Anyways thats a pretty good price but since you already have exhaust I would suggest spending the money on rims or a lip kit.

Re: :::timebeach777::: 2001 Base

Very nice. I lilke the ride and your plans are heading in the right direction as well. I'd like to do the twin piston caliper upgrade as well. I agree with you on needing to research that. I've been putting it off because of what is involved.

Top racecar does too, but jeez, those stock Acura wheels are so ugly imo..

Looking forward to the build.

Thanks guys!! I'll get more pics up when I install the shift knob and shift boot. I'm looking up some good rotors and pads for the calipers now and will install them this summer after I decide what color to paint them...leaning toward red with a black Honda sticker on them.
