Muteki Purple Lugs

This build began when I totaled my 1995 Toyota Corolla and insurance gave me 3K for it...

I initially was looking for a Honda Accord but then I saw a black prelude for sale on the side of the road in really bad condition but I instantly fell in love. So my search began to look for a good looking prelude to buy. After a month of looking for good prelude to begin to build, I found on in San Diego, CA. So I took on the 4 hour drive there from Santa Barbara, CA and bought it. I was the happiest guy alive lol instant love. I'd drive it everywhere! It was Automatic though... didn't know how t drive stick.

Until this happened:

A Ford F-350 Slammed into be when traffic came to a sudden stop on the Freeway. Not gonna lie, I cried that night lol Insurance came and said it was a total loss....So I decided to get the 6K and keep the car.

2 weeks later I found another prelude in San Diego and drove to pick it up. On my drive back from San Diego was the first time driving stick LOL So I learned to drive stick in one day. That same week I started swapping the 1999 seats into the new 1998 because I likes the fabric the on the 99 prelude better.. I also swapped over a bunch of other parts. I also sold the totaled prelude for $1500 :)

Now that I had a good base to begin a build I began a modification Machine lol.

Painted Stock wheels:

Painted Rings:

This is how she looked for a while:

Then I got my hands on Ap1 wheels:

I also had purchased a brand new set of GC and Koni Yellows:

Then another accident happened... A lady switched lanes without looking who was beside her and she slammed onto me.

So I took the opportunity to find a different paint... too many black preludes around. So after a lot of debating I went With Midnight Purple Pearl off the NSX. Along with that decided to buy a front lip, Mugen sides, rears and wing and a VIS CF hood, new honda Weather strips and shave off all the emblems, trunk key hole and Side markers. Special thanks to David @ JAT Autobody in El Monte, CA.

Heres how she looked after the "Donatello" transfermation...

I needed a new set of rims badly! So i bought some XXR's off my friends civic. 17x9 +35 all around and painted them white and bought Purple Muteki Lugs.

More goodies came in weeks later:

Replica HyTech Header:

JDM Fogs:

Donatello Sweat bands:

JDM front Bumper:

Re: :::Twisty55::: 1998 Purple Base

Then my car started to burn a **** ton of oil so I decided to do a JDM H22 Swap along with new innovative motor mounts, New Tranny, clutch, flywheel, belts, water pump, fluids SS brake lines, Hawk brake pads and centric rotors. Special thanks to Alex @ Ballade Sports in Orange County, CA

After my car was running fine and dandy. I began to continue my build buying more goodies:

New Dash Piece since mine was broken ever since I bought the car:

New Depo headlamps:

Had CCW's for 2 weeks but wasnt a big fan: 17x9 +22

So I went with RPF1's 17x9 +22:

Im having troubles going lower with the Ground controls.. So I'm looking for new suspension.

I bought new OEM Floor mats:

Also an NRG heavy weight puple/green ball type shift knob:

This is everything Ive done to mu Lude so far... I have a couple more goodies on their way and i will continue to update this thread... thanks for looking, stay tuned! I know its a lot of pics but like I said, I never got to make a build thread. I should have started one a long time ago lol

Re: :::Twisty55::: 1998 Purple Base

Yeah I kinda like it but I have it so that my lip doesn't get scrapped up going up and aspen driveways. I gotta replace it with a new home depot lip. Then it'll look better. Thanks! Took a lot of work.

That is a seriously sweet Lude. And totally gives me pointers on what I'm going to do with mine. Nice job!

Nice work Edgar. You should blank out that receipt in that picture up there!

How was the 17x9's all around? I was thinking of going 17x9 and 17x8.5 staggered. Maybe I will just go x9 all around. How was it working out for you?

My name is Edwin lmfao! Will do! Didn't see that thanks.
It's pretty good to tell you the truth. I jut gott pull my front fenders a bit cuz my tire gets stuck on the fender when I go up driveways. But other than that it's a nice ride.

Thanks man. Your car is legit as well! It was an ispiration to me. Im not a big fan of chrome. It's too flashy for me. I like RPF1's but I'm planning to get new rims soon. Don't know what yet though.

Idk.... I was thinking F&F type 1's with OEM top hats but I heard the rears are to soft and I want a stiffer ride. I was also thinking about BC coilovers. Still researching.

Sickness! Love the fresh paint! Good luck finding a better coilover set up than Koni/GC, I can't see myself ever getting rid of them

Did you remove the spring isolators that fit into the OEM top hats? Do you have the spring perches set at the lowest setting on the Koni shocks?

Spring isolator? Idk what that is.

I did that at one point but the shocks started to bottom out and the top part of the sleeve was getting shaved off.

Re: :::Twisty55::: 1998 Purple Base

Spring isolators are just rubber pieces that fit between the top of the spring and the inside of the top hat to reduce squeaks. Are unnecessary and add about half an inch when I left mine in at first

Re: :::Twisty55::: 1998 Purple Base

The easiest way to remove the isolators is when you have the wheels off the ground to cut them in half so you don't have to remove the whole top hat. Downside is if you end up not liking the result you will want to purchase new ones not cut in half from Energy or find OEM ones again.

x2 on keeping the CCWs looked so much cleaner in my opinion. Looks good over all. Looks like you where in the wrong place many times but all those accidents go you at a very god stand point. Keep it up.

Yeah a lot of people wanted me to keep them but like I said too much chrome is not my style. Yeah That's true those accidents helped me out a lot. Thanks!

It's a good header. Felt a minor difference in power and it gave my exhaust more of a deep tone. Downside to it is that it hangs really low! I have to take on speed bumps head on inside of angling. But its a good header.
