My homemade solid engine mount. Ordered it today from REDNECK RACING, got it the same day. If you have a bad mount and a few junk parts laying around and a spare headbolt you can make this in 5 minutes.

Re: :::greenmachineG23::: 1999 Base

runs smooth. pulls pretty hard. seems like it has more torque than with the h motor and it got up to a hundred and thirty mph in no time the other day. it surges at idle though. i made an iacv blockoff plate but it still does it a lot. sometimes it dont do it though. with the head being milled it should be close to stock h22 compression to.

That is a very unique green! Cool paint setup. Nice build as well. What made you pick that color? Thanks for sharing.

Re: :::greenmachineG23::: 1999 Base

its not got a shift boot. its a 5 speed manual. im gonna put a new boot on it soon.

the wing and the hood look a lot better in person. i liked the dash black but my gf wanted me to paint it orange and thought maybe she'd settle for green. Thinkin about green and gun metal throughout, unless i get to where i can afford carbon fiber dash and stuff.

Lime green and black is by far my favorite color combo in the world your lude looks badass. Just two question's and one comment lol don't let the GF tell ya what to do with the car, odds are you will keep the car longer than you keep the girl anyways how high do you rev this motor usually, and did you build the motor yourself or buy it?

Thanks. i love it too. and orange would not have went with it. lol. I kinda built it and bought it at the same time. i guess pieced together is more of the right word. lol.
I bought a complete f23a1 out of a wrecked 98 accord that had been sitting for about 8 years for 100 bux. i pulled the blown engine out of the lude and i took the head off and put it on the f23 block. i had previously milled the head.02 to try to get close to 11:1 with the h22. i had to plug 2 oil drains on the head next to the front. one on each side with rtv. i pulled the pulley off the f23 water pump with a pulley puller and done the same with an old h22 water pump i had and tapped the gear on the f23 gently with a hammer. i never had to take the pump off to do this. next i switched the lower timing gear for the h22 one and i already had the engine at top dead center before head install, still got moved, had to re-time. had to switch flywheels cause the f23 came with a flexplate. had to cut the water pipes and splice them together. it really wasnt to hard. i know the thread says balance shaft delete, kinda inaccurate. they are there, just too much bs to deal with so i didnt put the belt on. i dont notice any vibrations that arent good. i dont see why they are even there. however i am running a lower f23 drivers side engine mount and the upper part is for h22. gotta figure something out cause there is only one bolt holding it up right there.
I rev this thing to 7500. have several times since installation about a week and a half ago. we will see, this is a pretty new build.
i built it cause it was the cheapest way to get my lude back on the street, it just happened to have some good torque side effects along with it.

yeah, lol. but it only cost me a hundred and 50 bux to build. that includes motor, pulley puller, and fresh oil and plugs.
with the new found torque an auto tranny would probably be nothing but a red stain on the highway after the first hard pull.

Thanks. i love it too. and orange would not have went with it.
Nice man, some good info there, I have been reading up on this build a lot lately, what pistons and rods did you use? Just the stock f23 ones? And I am glad you are not revving this motor super high like some people with N/A g23's do... This guy spun a bearing rebuilt and then threw a rod and he didn't know why, he thought he could rev to 9k for some reason! lol I will be glad to see how it holds up with 7.5k shifts because that's where I would like it to rev to. I want to get my motor back up and running then work on building a crazy turbo g23 while im just running my N/A h22, or buying a 3rd gen DD and just starting this build really soon lol.

Yea the whole bottom end is stock f23, pistons, rods and all.from what ive read the f23a1 and i think a4 have a little higher comp than the a5 also.
9000! wow. i clench my @$$ cheeks expecting the worst just takin it to 7500. i guess if the tach goes that high why not see if it will rev that high huh?
lol he should be for that one. looks like he woulda learned after the first time.
This swap isnt all that hard. unless you are gonna boost immediately i would mill the head before i put it together so you still have some power. the whole job can be done over the weekend in the floor of a barn by yourself with improper tools and a lot of cussin at the cherrypicker cause it wont roll cause of the hay and mud.

when i done it i pulled the motor and the transmission, gotta take the hood off.took me 3 days, 1 day(3hrs) to pull the motor, a day to pull the 2 motors apart and put the g23 together, a day to drop it in, get it running and make sure everythings cool.

I wish, thats a hell of a good idea though. lol, except it would be impossible to hide from cops. The g23 just using stock parts wont take long either, just make sure you plug the correct oil drains that dont line up with the block. its the first two on the timing side, Its all simple as pie, no need to worry or over research the build. the hardest part is switching the water pump pulley from the h22 onto the f series. just put it together and run it. if you have an h22 the only thing you should need is a complete f23 from a junkyard. also need to figure out something for the drivers side engine mount, if you rig it the torque will break it quickly.

thanks man.
yeah, i've been told that a lot. Whenever its sitting real far away it definitely looks like an r/c car. It looks a lot smaller far away.
