:::keeganhmorgan::: 98 Type SH

Well I told myself that I would make my build thread as soon as I pulled my motor, so obviously I pulled my motor today! I wanted to wait because I didn't want it to be a wait around till I pull my motor thread lol now it is a wait around till people finish my motor thread. For those of you who do not know, aka most of you, here is the story of me and my prelude:

I bought my prelude October 2010 for $1,900 it is a 1998 Prelude Type SH with 135,000 miles on it. I was very excited to buy it because it was my first car that I was buying on my own, I knew almost nothing about preludes and this one was throwing CEL, had a rebuilt title, needed a new fender front bumper and some paint. Then about one month after I got it my rings went bad so I decided to rebuild my motor and that is where we are now.

Interior
All Stock

Exterior
18" Rims
30,000k HID lights

Engine
Type S Pistons
Skunk2 High CR Valves
Skunk2 Tuner Valve Springs
Skunk2 Titanium Retainers
Sh*tty sounding fart can

I.C.E.
Alpine Deck
Stock front 2 Speakers (only the driver side one works lol)
No rear Speakers

Misc
Fidanza 8lb Flywheel
Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
Energy Suspension Engine Mount Inserts

Future Mods
E-manage
Tune
Paint Car
Skunk2 Cams
Hytech Replica
Exhaust

Here are some teaser pictures of the parts I have laying around my house.

Here is a picture of my dads car that I am trying to get my car to be as fast as it is a 2003 Porsche Boxster (Mods it at least has part of my car in it, tell me if you want me to take it down and I will)

Re: :::keeganhmorgan::: 98 Type SH

Yeah it was pretty tough getting it out, but most of the time was waiting for new tools to come and figuring out how to do stuff, I could probably do it in about 2 days rather than 2 months now that I have done it and have all the tools, but I am glad to have it out, to my surprise it was fairly easy to actually get the motor out and it just lifted straight out.

I am somewhere around $4,000 right now but I don't exactly know. After I am done I will get all the receipts together and see exactly how much it was.

Yeah, having a car that's down sucks, but I still wish I had the garage space, tools, willpower, and time to do something like this!

Haha well it definitely took a lot to get that sucker out of there, about two months, but now that I know how to do everything I think I could pull it in about two days if I needed too. I am very glad to have the garage space and the parents that deal with parts being literally all over the garage. My dad even deals with me making him take his Porsche out of the garage so that I can have more room, and loosing his some of his tools, and almost all of my tools lol. I am sure I will find them all when the motor goes back in though.

Re: :::keeganhmorgan::: 98 Type SH

Today I got the motor all ready to take to my machinist and cleaned it all up as much as I could, I even got my girlfriend to help me clean the motor . My mom complained about the smell of the carb cleaner so I went to Wally world and got some Simple Green, it smells a lot better and it actually cleaned really well also.

I couldn't get the last hose to the stupid oil filter assembly off so I am going to let my machinist take care of that, that's what I am paying him for anyways right? lol

Here is the front it did not clean up as well as the back unfortunately but it still looks better than it use to, I will do some more cleaning when I get it back.

The engine use to be as dirty as the ATTS unit and the Transmission, I wish I took a before picture so you could see how dirty it was.

Thanks man.

So after I get off of work today I get to clean off the transmission and the ATTS unit, do some more work on the A/C Delete and clean up the engine bay a little more, I am debating on whether I should do a CC delete or not I tend to use it an alright amount but it is kind of annoying looking. What do you guys think?

Yesterday I ordered 58 new parts from Honda, and dropped my block off. As soon as I get my valve seats and guides I am going to drop my head off. Then once I get them back I am hoping I can start my car within 3 days, 1 day to put everything back together, 1 day to get the timing all set up and 1 day to drop that puppy back in. So I am hoping I can get my block back in 3 weeks or so because I know my head will only take a week or maybe 2 weeks.

I will take some pictures as soon as I actually make some more progress, yesterday was kinda my lazy day although it did take 4 hours out of my day to order all of those parts and to drop off my block lol. But other than that I basically went to work and watched some TV and let my hands rest lol I have a total of around 12 cuts on my hands and I think 1 or 2 might be infected I hope not though lol.

Take a wire wheel to that transmission housing and stuff and it will be super clean again. You can check nordic97mist's thread to see what I mean. He has some pics of stuff he cleaned up on that last page of his MR thread. Progression is nice, keep the updates coming.

Good Idea would you suggest that on the front of the block also? It is no where near as clean as the back even after hours or carb cleaner and simple green, and I will definitely keep the updates coming.

Just a silly question, but if you're rebuilding your bottom end why not hot tank it?

I'm already a fan of this thread, big props.

I'm already a fan of this thread, big props.
Thanks and I don't have a bunch of extra money (I know it doesn't cost much) but this build has already cost me so much that if the wire wheel and simple green don't take it off then its staying on there.

Re: :::keeganhmorgan::: 98 Type SH

I cant get a ride into work today so luckily for me it looks like I get a couple extra hours to work on the lude. Today I want to replace master and slave cylinder, put in stainless steel clutch line, clean transmission, clean ATTS unit, and clean the engine bay... We will see if I can get all of that done.

And out of our love for drinking . My best friend and I are going to Canada in it so that I can have it broken in as quickly as possible and as a going away/birthday gift for him because he is going to be leaving for the Airforce.
