Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

Well I pulled the adjustable lowering springs off and replaced them with El Cheapo stock-ish springs. However, the dampeners are dead so it bumps up and down just looking at a bump. It also has some really scary vibration at freeway speed (65-80 mph) and sharp turns cause it to jitter and lose traction.

Also tried to adjust the way the hood it sitting, which seems to have made it look better but inspecting it closely I can tell either the hood is tweaked or the frame is. I may have to jimmy some way to straighten the hood out... or get a new CF on ^____^

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

The suspension has been getting worse (I know, we are all shocked that the new combo of the cheapest POS coils and blown dampeners isn't working well, but it isn't ::gasp::)

Looks like I will prolly be matching my shocks to my coils: cheap. For now.

Currently the car "rolls" after hitting bumps, clear sign of bad shocks. HOWEVER, I also get really nasty vibration at freeway speeds, and the front left wheel likes to lose grip on right hand turns (it feels like it starts bouncing and the air time is the loss of traction.) Frankly it seems to be getting dangerous.

SO, new shocks, get it aligned (prolly Firestones "lifetime misalignment.") Need to get the wheels rotated to make sure that my wheel isnt off-round.

My car hates me, FML lol.

Always looking for feedback... Peace

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

Well after my lower ball joint went out on the left (expensive learning opportunity, check your LBJs folks,) and broke my axle I figured WTF I will go ahead and put some functional dampeners on. I got the LBJ, left axle and front dampeners replaced so the front is new stock suspension and the rear is left. However, ther was major cosmetic damage to the front quarter panel and I had to pull the debris cover out of the wheel well. A few steps closer to a super sound car.

BTW for those who are frustrated with removal or install of the Lower ball joing, Lower BJ or LBJ, I have to say there are two things to pay heed to. 1) More force will get the job done. 2) dont rip the f***ing boot.

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

Hey man I got a 93 si too . And after seeing your Lude I decided on geting away from the black i put on my car ( wing, piece around the licence plate, and fuel door) . Just because i saw how sexy your silver lude looks. also yours has no rust ha probly why it looks 100x better than mine ha.

Good luck with the supercharger plan you have going i dont hear to much bout superchargers on 4 bangers but also i kind of stopped learning about turbo and superchargers after i bought my car(no time or money for it). after i go to college if i still have this lude or hopefully my next car will be a better shape one i will try to turbo it and see how that goes..

Anyways love the car, good luck with it man keep working on it so i get some standards for my car

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

lol, funny you should say that. There is some rust and cancer, but I know photoshop-fu (ok, Picasa 3.) HOWEVER, after my LBJ blew the other day the front left quarter panel is f*ed up, but trust me I love my 93Si problem-child, I hope you do to.

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

Nother set of issues down;
new sway bar links (front) duralast
new motor mount (front) duralast

Wanted to do Energy suspension stuff, but money is tight what with me gettin hitched in in the clear and present future.

BTW at least with my lude, I had to pull the right radiator fan (ergo the underbody as well) and the heat shroud over the header just to get enough access to get to the bolts on the motor mount.

Re: :::SnowTaipan::: 1993 Si

UPDATE
FYI, the cheap pilot CF tape sucks. I know, we are all shocked, but it just can't handle curving surfaces like your center console. Haven't tried the 3M stuff, but at this point the Pilot CF tape gets a big POS rating from me.

Picking up a Moog LBJ and doorman spindle bolt for my problem child today at 1pm from checker. planning to install next week.

I have what sure seems like MAJOR torque steer. Heavy acceleration pulls the wheel 5-10 degrees CCW and braking is pulling it 20 CW. I am hoping this is related to the dead f LBJ (right side) but IDK. Guess I need to check all my torque settings under the car while I'm down there.

Oil leak on bottom of the engine and the valve cover gasket as well.

On an up not, still regularly getting 25-26mpg, and most of it is in town.
