Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
Thanks all for your kind comments.
When I first got the car there was a problem with the 4WS I didnt know how to fix. I knew nothing about Hondas so I thought to find solid subframe would be the better option. Im glad I did the conversion now as the grip and handling is simply stunning. There was dangerous ammounts of play in the rear steer, I just didnt feel safe. Also with the twisty roads we have here I like to drive hard, 4WS can be a bad thing IMO, I have seen first hand somone lose the back end on a lude, they tried to correct it with oppsite lock, they reacted fast enough but the rear steering didnt. Its also the done thing to remove it if you track day a lude over here. Its a hot topic on our forum pretty much a 50/50 divided opinion. I like knowing what to expect, I feel safe now. This lude corners like its on rails. Last edited by Spider; 01-16-2010 at 08:28 PM. |

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
The car looks great. The paint is very nice. I have a 'red' '95 that looks more pink than red.
You said you made the front bumper - how? Could you give a little writeup? Rear lip also looks great!

Sure I will get round to doing a finished version of a write up, for now though you can get the basic idea here:
Honda Prelude UK :: View topic - Bumper face lift No 2 Its all bout getting the fibre glass to stick to the plastic. It all looks crude but it worked out well. I will get round to finishing that thread off one day. |

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
That's one terrific example there mate. From the subtle but aggressive front bar all the way back to the tinted tails, it looks like it's going 100-fast and hour while it's parked. I hope you're proud of what you've achieved.

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
Wow thank you guys, wasnt expecting these comments at all. I have done everything on this car myself, appart from the stitching of the new cloth in the seats.
I dont have much money, but I do have a lot of love for my lude, Im lucky that I can do pretty much anything when it comes to cars. I will have a look round PZ when I finally find out how to use the site properly. Thanks guys, feel at home here already. ;) |

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
I always say if there is enough desire, then the facts don't count. But I agree, being able to do it all yourself is way better than paying others to do all the hard work. Then y ou sit back and look at it thinking I built that...

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
This is my next addition. Progess on the new paint job on the whole car and hood (as you guys call it) has been holted because of our weather and tempritures.
a few pics: ![]() This is the usual on the ludes over here due to the constant rain and salt on roads in winter: ![]() But I have a plan, If you take a spare wing from passger side and put it against the drivers rear quarter there is a part that is the right shape to replace the rotten metal. Same goes the other way. ![]() I break preludes form time to time (currently breaking 5th gen) This pics is an experiment to see if it could be done using a front wing as replacement part. ![]() ![]() ![]() I know its rough there but it was just a tester. Just waiting for a bit of cash and weather to pick up. We have had some heavy snow. Stunning to look at but a serious pain in the ass. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thannks for reading, hope your not bored ![]() |

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
yep your right, rear wiper stock on all uk spec ludes ;) Well I think so, never seen a lude without one here unless its been removed.
All the JDMs I have ever seen have ther rear wiper too. |
|
||||
Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
It's a standard fitment for high snow areas, should be standard world wide. I can't count the number of times where I've needed one.

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
OK guys here goes.
There was a lot more than I first thought. Its a good job I took more than I expected to need form my doner lude. Lucky for me a lude I got to break had mint arches and they were original :shock: I cut them off with a sthill saw, and took the lot to a mate of mine who does fabrication ect on wagons for a living, now for pics; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I knw there was a little whole down here so I removed th skirt to see what needed doing and had a shock when I seen the extent of the rot here, Other side was fine ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All rot gone and new metal in. So I now have to save and buy the paint. First going to waxoil everything as much as I can, then prep the car. Another few weeks and this will be awsome again. Cant wait. Will have to do engine swap first I think, Hope this H22A8 is in good shape :P |

Re: :::Spider:::1993 UK spec VTEC
I love your lude, it's done very nicely indeed. The rear fog light is seriously growing on me too, it really suits 4th gens!
Great work ![]()
