:::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

(Copied post from PreludePower)

Hey guys. Just registered for the site, but I've lurked around here for a WHILE, just read a bunch of stuff. Learned a lot from you guys. I'm a regular on SFPoA and have been a Luder since October 2007. First bought a 96 Si, but in July of 2008, I traded it in for a 98 Base which I later "lost" due to some family issues, finance issues, etc. 'Twas a sad day.

But I'm back. About a month ago I found and bought my current car. A 2001 Base. Silver.

Here's some pics of BONNIE

When I bought it:
Side:

Head Unit:

Engine Bay:

Exhaust (i'm going to be polishing it)

Added the Clear turn signals and side markers

Bonnie and "Janna" (best friend's Eclipse GT) -after an INTENSE car wash session:

2 days ago - Painted the bezels and did a half assed job polishing my headlights. will finish soon

Tomorrow I'm going to be wetsanding the headlights and polishing them again. If it comes out good I'll spray some clearcoat on top of them. And I'm going to fix the sag on my front bumper.

Near future plans: Koni Yellows and either Tein S. Techs or Ground Controls, depends how work goes and bills and what you guys recommend =D

Mod List:
Red means I've added it.

Interior
Painted Bezels Silver Metallic
White LEDs in Dome/Map/Trunk

Exterior
Clear Turn Signals
Clear Side Markers w/Blue LEDs
JDM Fog Lights w/Yellow Capsule Mod
Blue LED DRLs
White LED for License Plate

Engine
Cold Air Intake (no name)
Custom Axle-Back Exhaust

I.C.E.
Pioneer headunit
Pioneer front/rear speakers

Suspension
Stock

very nice, it looks immaculate but i think you should take your friends wheels off his hands, they'd look sweet on your lude

Thanks for the compliments :)

And the rims might look good on the 'Lude but I don't like them too much. Maybe I'll ask him to loan me then for a photo session :P

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

Personally the stock 5th gen wheels are fine. I'd be more worried about dropping the car then getting wheels.

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

Oh, the wheels aren't coming anytime soon. Next step is a drop. I'm looking to get Koni Yellows wrapped by Tein S. Techs, which I will be buying/installing in about 3-4 weeks.

I was thinking of getting Ground Controls on the Konis but, are they worth it?

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

Yea, you are only going to spend a little more money but will have a lot more options.

You would be a lot happier with the ground control sleeves with the koni yellows.

See price for ground control

Only price I looked for on the s techs

Spend a little more money for full ride height control instead of being stuck with that 1.5" drop. I just think you would be a lot happier this way... a lot of people wish they just got the ground controls instead of just springs.

Thanks again.

And you found a really expensive site for the S. Techs lol. I found them at about $180. But yeah you're right, it's not too much more and the Ground Controls offer a lot more variety.

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

Thanks pfeifer. I was raised in New York but now I'm living in Miami Beach. Hence why I'm coming over from SFPoA.

And Gluder. I've found a few bids on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...82&refid=store

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TEIN-...QQcmdZViewItem

http://www.fredbeansparts.com/servle...-dsh-02/Detail

That first one is about $180, the other 2 are $180 without shipping costs so probably comes out to about $200. There was a vendor sale on SFPoA, I think, selling them at $130. I'm trying to see if that deal is still on but I think it's done. Will let you know when I hear anything.

not bad, good start on the mods, I'd get the S-Tech springs if I were you :) Are you going to get a lip or keep it stock without? Keep up the good work

Can you give him a good reason why he should go with the s-techs?
Other than you have them and like them.

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

^^

well... it's a good drop, Tein is a good brand, it's a good price, and there is nothing wrong with Tein S-Tech's, they go perfect with a set of Tokico HP series struts or can be used with the stocks (if you don't mind a rough ride) and they plain just kick ass!! Or if he lives in an area that gets winter and frost heaves, having your car on a 2+ inch drop isn't the best idea. But whatever doesn't matter to me what he wants to get I just thought I'd throw my 2 cent out there.

I totally agree with you. I just wanted you to give a reason because I hate it when people are just like "get this" but put no reasoning behind it.

Re: :::mannyt55::: 2001 Satin Silver Base

Yeah, I'm just gonna go with the Ground Controls. Unless that deal comes up for the Teins @ $130. I live in Miami Beach. There's SOME construction going on, but besides that, I can slam my car (not that I want to) and all I have to worry about is when it rains heavily.

And after the drop I'm gonna slap on a WWRS lip kit, and buy JDM fogs. I love the Wings West kit on silver Ludes.

P.S. It's an x-brand Cold Air. I might switch to a Type-S Intake or get a CAI from AEM or Injen. I'll have to research more on that.

I got a $114 ticket today for having "too loud of an exhaust." WTF.

I'm taking it to court though, since he didn't test it with any device or anything. Legitimate reason to fight it? Or am I doomed?
