My name is Glenn and I have been on the forum for a while... the features (like thread subscriptions) here caused me to leave preludeonline and poweprelude behind... The helpful and cordial nature of members here caused me to stick around. I guess it is time I formally introduce myself. Below is some info on my ride, which has continued to be a good car since my swap a few months back (when all the work below was done). At the bottom is a silly bio I wrote a while back when it was late and I had little to do...

Biography: I bought my 1992 prelude for $1100 in February 2005 with 198K miles. I guess you could call it a birthday present to myself, and I must say it has been far and away the best gift I have picked for myself. I loved the H23A1 even though she drank a little 20w50 and scared me once with the timing belt; I never regretted buying the car for a second and never doubted that I got a remarkable deal… this was confirmed with a flowmaster deltaflow 40 series that was a lot fun while it lasted… It was the first sports car I had driven, and proved anyone foolish enough to suggest that a sports car had to be, by definition, rear wheel drive, irrevocably wrong. Eventually, as the main seals began to fail, I began thinking back on a not too distant memory… the cold cold morning I added 6 quarts of 20w50 (or should I say molasses) on the 18 mile trip to the mechanic, before catching a ride to work with my wife, because some seal above the oil filter decided the time was ripe. This memory evoked images of an JDM H22A driven Lude with LSD, a good tune, and lots of fancy, albeit normally aspirated, “bolt ons.” Blueridge Motorsports helped turn this image into a reality and earned a regular customer and friend.

edit... The head mechanic at Blueridge has an h22 swapped civic that I rode in shortly after I got my Lude Si (our wives met at work. They came out to the house here in the country, and we romped around in both cars)... The memory of that bada$$ little ride caused me to dream about h22s for the next couple years until I finally showed up at Blueridge on dyno day to talk about making that dream a reality... now it is :)

see the nice gain in torque through the lower part of the band? car pulls from 35mph in 5th gear now without any complaints... I don't usually let it, but it can comfortably cruise along around 35mph.

peak numbers are just that, peak numbers... they don't speak to how much difference was really made with the tune... people who have rarely ridden with me have noticed the additional power.

^ thanks... maybe with some body work!! (I have to admit I kinda like the stock rims and will probably keep them unless I decide on a brake upgrade that requires more room).

Engine bay during the tune:

she's a bit of a sleeper... not nearly as loud cruising as it sounds like it might be while sitting in the garage being spun up close to 8K on the dyno.

^The lip at the bottom of the bumper and the "wheel well plastic" was removed to get her on the cool a$$ mobile dyno... we reattached.

haha... I neglected it leading up to the swap; we cleaned her up really well after we got her back.

Well, that took me longer than I thought it would... better go watch this movie "Jarhead" with my wife... she's gonna get mad at me.. :)

edit: came back to fix the side profile up top.

Muffler sounds great... deep and mellow enough to listen to the radio... the old flowmaster 40 (edit: on the h23) was a beast.......

I'll get a drive by video or something with my dad's camera in a few days (edit: or years... :P).

^ thanks, the type s was red... I think the rest were black... I have def. checked it out, the stamp is good (was manufactured late in 94... sept if I remember right).

edit: maybe some 5th gen h22as were red.

hey man sweet car and welcome! although it doesn't look like ur going for looks, after u fix ur bumpers or whatnot get some black jdm/ebay headlights that color is sexy with those

I thought about that. I had a corner light out and opted to get new clear corners instead, may still get some nice one pieces one day... I like the black, think they would look okay with a darker silver or gunmetal (colors I am considering)??

I will update a little on my future body plans up top... I def. want a lip for the front. Where's the best place to get it?

yeah honestly dude those 1 pc black head lights look better with any color. ebay or jdm sh!t are both good places for lips, check out the spoon lip in the 4th gen thread

For anyone who tried to look at my pics yesterday before 1130...

I was having a malfunction due to the sam adams I was sipping on... the pics were not all working right away, but Prelude13 rescued me... take another peek.

I got nominated for ROTM and haven't even painted her yet... Thanks for the support everyone!

I don't really want a lot more power for a daily driver (but if I have too much money and get bored it a few years I might boost or do cams (crower maybe?) and valve train)... otherwise I want the stuff above (MSD Ignition, flywheel... just the small things I don't have yet) and I want to get a dent pulled out of the passenger side... new rear bumper, a lip for the front, PAINT... haha...

also need to figure out where the trunk is leaking...

other than that I just want to keep her running good so I can keep having fun.... 7 grand since March is enough for now :)

ps... if we run out of gas I WILL have it tuned for ethanol... ;)

edit... nice vid... that's pretty quick for a mildly built h22... valvetrain work did the trick, eh?

I plan on painting my lude this winter. I have decided I would like to put a lip and possibly some side skirts (that are more subtle than the ones below) on the car, just to dress it up a tad... I am envious of ludenight95's front lip...(similar or the same pictured below... spoon lip)

The accord type r lip also looks okay (but not as good). I have to make this decision for myself, obviously, but opinions are welcome.

More importantly, I just wanted to know if you guys agreed with me in thinking that that is an excellent color... I had been planning on going for a darker silver or metallic gunmetal to preserve the awesome "silverness" of the 4th gen :) it was the sexiest color. So, What do you guys think?

...i'd keep it the original color. You dont see many silver 4th gens running around...I guess im just a purist at heart
