5th Gen Front Speaker Install Help - With Pics

Hey guys,

I picked up two (2) Polk DB651 for the 5th gen lude.

I attached pics to help with my question...

The stock speak is 3 mounting screws...

The Polk has 4...

The Polks seem to sit flush without cutting the basket out in the back. However, they won't "seat" because just 1 of the 4 screws "scratches" the edge. (If I shoved it real hard it would almost wedge into position).

I think I can just dremel a little there and get the speaker to "seat"...

I've heard of people using spacers, but there is no way to effectively use a spacer here because that would push the new polks further out and thus I wouldn't be able to use the existing speaker cover kick panel. (i.e. the tweeter would hit the panel cover).

Any advice?

Should I just shave a little plastic to get the speaker to seat and then use bolts with nuts at the 4 screw hole locations?

Are you talking about dremmeling out the screw hole (don't do that) or trimming the opening to get the speaker to seat (not a terrible idea, but be careful not to take off too much...
