Re: 2001 SH all new stereo wiring
Hey guys my car audio is still not complete.
Just ordered this: Crunch PDX-1000.4 1000W Max PDX Series Bridgeable 4-Channel Class A/B Car Amplifier I have an 8awg power wire with fuse from the battery and a 8awg grounded to the strut tower. I am using a sound equalizer with my phone, so there is no turn on lead/remote wire from a headunit since there is no headunit. However my equilizer turns on and off with the ignition. I ordered a new budget amp 3 other old amps did not turn on successfully they went into protect. My lude has a sketchy aftermarket alarm/remote entry so I do not want to tap into ignition switch wire for remote. I was wondering if I could use a remote turn on from the Honda acoustic feedback system in the trunk? I do not have a test light or a multi-meter to test it. Just wondering if anyone knew.

Re: 2001 SH all new stereo wiring
I got my crunch PDX1000.4 amp today.
Before I bought the amp, on the site it said 8 gauge is ok for this amp, in the quick start guide it says i need 4 gauge. I only have 8 gauge from battery to truck & ground. Do I need to get 4 gauge or will I be ok with 8 gauge? Power wires are not cheap, lol. My previous amps 600w sub amp and 400w speaker amp came with 8 gauge.

RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 75 watts x 4 chan. 2 ohms: 125 watts x 4 chan. Bridged, 4 ohms: 250 watts x 2 chan.

Re: 2001 SH all new stereo wiring
8 gauge is fine.
For cable sizing, you go off the RMS not the peak power, so use the 75w x4 figure. I'm guessing you're not doing anything minty with bridging? So 75x4=300w which is 25 amps at 12V. 8 gauge is more than capable of delivering this current without significant voltage drop. The only time I've ever gone over 8 gauge for power wiring is if I'm running multiple amps off a single power cable. |

That's what I was thinking. Sweet. Thank You!
