Amp not coming on

Hey guys,

So I was recently trying to sell my amp that I've just had sitting around. It's a jl audio setup with two amps attached to the box. I didn't have any of the wires set up in the car anymore. And when I went to meet a buyer, we tried getting the amps to turn on and nothing happened. We connected it straight to the battery with some wires the guy had the speakers worked but nothing from the amps. He also had some cigarette liter ghetto rigged to the wires and that also didn't work.

Does it have something to do with there not being a fuse in the system? I don't know too much about amps or systems so I'm at a loss right now. Thanks!

Re: Amp not coming on

I believe that amps require an "activation" wire that goes from the head unit to the amp. The radio uses that wire to tell the amp to turn on. Did you have that set up?

Okay. I think so. I don't know exactly which wire it would be. Is there any way to tell?

Re: Amp not coming on

Blue wire, very light gauge. Called a remote lead, make sure the onboard fuse isn't blown, of there is one.

Re: Amp not coming on

If u can't find it, put a little jumper wire from the + terminal to the remote terminal, but try to have it fused, just in case...
