Maybe another option for Android head unit..

I been really interested in using a android tablet as a head unit. Did a lot of research... I've been trying to find the easiest way since I'm not the best with a dermal or fabricating of any kind. While researching I came across a actual 2 din head unit that runs the android OS but is also still a head unit. I dont know if i'm explaining it right but the picture should. Has anyone seen it or heard of it? From what I can find, its kind of a mix review. Its a Erisin ES777A

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

That would be alot easier than what i did in my car. Primarily because my setup requires amplifiers and you loose your AM tuner. You can keep your FM but it sounds awful!

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

It will be worth about a dollar per watt, I'd be surprised if something like that put out a clean 15 watts per channel. But go for it, Im going to go check it out on google now.

EDIT: well it has no sub out, but it goes for 260 elsewhere. http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es777a-...ayer_p253.html
Might be something fun to play with. Rated @ 45w per channel.

EDIT2:Wow, there are ALOT of versions.
Sub out !

eBay has a pretty good buyers protection policy, which I've had to use before. So I'm not too worry about getting my money back

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

There a few options if you have the cash. Most with amp pre-outs and descent wattage.

Pioneer SPH-DA100 AppRadio 2 Smartphone receiver at Crutchfield.com

JVC KW-AV71BT DVD receiver at Crutchfield.com

Like I said, a bit more pricey but if you want a reliable sound these look pretty good IMO.

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

Yea I was just looking through a new crutchfield. Theres a few new android options that use mirror link to control the phone. There's an alpine which I want but right below it theres a pioneer for 399, probably the same one posted above, that seems like the best bang for the buck. I would stay away from no name stereo brands. The no name brands are probably a downgrade from the stock stereo as far as quality of build and sound.

I agree on staying away from no name stereos. The ones that mirror control of the phone though if im not mistaken are primarily for IPHONE only

For stereos I also usually stay away from the no name brands but for $60 (retails for $260), I'm give it a try. I've seen a couple reviews stating the sound quality is good. And a overall good review for the unit. Well worse case if it sucks, I'll just sell it on craigslist or something

No, not really. I have fitted the Sony XAV701 BT a few months ago with mirror link with my Samsung S4. My iphone couldn't link at all, only handsfree for the calling. It works perfect with all the phone features on the touch screen of the stereo. I am now running all of my navigation apps through it and the sound is fantastic. Clear and crisp. I agree with you on the no name brands, they really suck in quality and software performance and the sound is horrible. I know, I have fallen for that cheap crap before.

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

It's a fookin stereo guys.. android/apple/ms?
Who cares?
It doesn't make phone calls, it doesn't do windows and certainly won't last any time.

Just get a double din and be done with it. At least they don't track/store/sell your habits and whereabouts like those big 3 os systems...

I was considering one of those a while ago but all the reviews i read were very poor and people didn't like the product. It also didn't deliver the sound quality that i wanted.

Dis. I wouldn't even give it a day.

Get a decent system that doesn't scream "STEAL ME" or get an actual tablet and a aux out radio connection so you can take your tablet with you.

Friend of mine got one of their older ones. I would rather have an 8 track! The sound quality is horrible, the menus aren't intuitive, the touchscreen is plastic, I can continue lol.

Re: Maybe another option for Android head unit..

If your looking for a radio that's compatible with an Android this is what I currently have and it blows all other double din radios out of the water. The sound processor in is phenomenal, I have had various radios, I usually get one as soon as a new one comes out but its gonna be hard to top this one. Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
