Thought I'd share this. I needed somewhere to mount my amp, and decided to mount it to a diagonal member in the trunk. I used 3 sheet metal screws and some lock washers and it holds up just fine

thats a good idea but im gonna mound my 2 amps in a custom hidden fiberglass tray that sits right above the space tire so if the spare is needed at all then you can just disconect the wires and pull the whole tray out with no worries and i keeps it clean and safe incase someone break into your car then they cant see the amps either

That looks really good! I would try to fab up some kind off carpet to cover up the amp so it won't be visible to the naked eye. I don't know if you can picture how that would look but I think it would look sick.

I'd put carpet under the amp so it doesn't look so incomplete. But then again, if I didn't have to worry about water, I'd mount it under the piece that covers my spare tire ;)

that is exactly where mine is right now. but my amp recently died... so when the new one goes in, i'm going the route jesse's talking about to keep it hidden and the trunk clutter-free.

The amp looks cool mounted like that. I would have never thought of that. But I agree that you should cover it up with something so any thieves out there can't see it too easy.

Only problem is that if I cover it with some kind of carpet, it's likely to overheat

Yeah, it probably would overheat. Maybe you could just cover it up when you are not in it, like when it's gonna' be aprked somewhere for awhile, and uncover it when it's in use. Or maybe just build some kind of panel that's not actually too close to it so it would still get some air.

Take a plywood and cut it so it goes from the floor to top and side to side. Dont know what I mean? Picture this...False floor but instead put it as the back wall. If you pop your trunk you see nothing, it looks stock (obviouslly you would carpet the plywood).

that's a really good idea for the amp, I think he didn't have the carpet up just to show yall what it looks like but a fiberglass enclosure would be nice on ur back wall if you have the patience to build one, lol...

Yeah I've got that there too...but I just mounted my amp onto of my box and I'm not having any problems out of it. Most of the wires are hidden behind the box so that's always a plus, I just have the fuse on the side where I can easily access it and change it out if need be.

Looks great, and very convenient, but I would definitely be worried about heat.
