Tach Stuck around 2?

Hey guys and gals,

It seems occasionally when i start up and rev or drive the tach will go to 2k and no matter how high i rev the engine it will not vary more than a few mm away from the 2k line. However sometimes it responds great and accuratly. It happens with no rhyme or reason it seems. I think its an electric tach(4th gen, 94). Is there just some wire somewhere that needs to be jiggled or something silly?

Thanks.

Well, it could be a gauge problem itself(the coil that winds the tach gauge could be broken) or the coil wire that reads engine RPM could be broken as well...

...so you're saying you can drive the car fine just that your tach sometimes is stuck at 2k?

...also, does your speedomter, tripmeter & odometer work fine?

Yes everything else works fine. It seems to be working more often then not now, so im not quite sure what the problem is, but either way its not the end of the world, i was just wondering if there was an easy fix. I would probally have to replace the whole cluster or something.

Thanks.
