Isolating SRI

I was thinking about building a box around myair filter to act as a heat shield and lower the tempurature around it. A) would this even work? B) What would by the best material to use? I was thinking aluminum but i feel like that would act more like an oven than a heat shield.

It will work. Alumnum is great material since it dosnt like to hold heat.

ARC makes a cooling fin material also if you can find it get it. It will help keep heat temps down

Yeah I've seen that stuff before, I can get at at a place in queens, I might line the aluminum with it for some extra measures but we'll see. I'm gonna try and get a thermometer in there and find if there's any worthwhile temp difference.

Building a box around your filter will only be a benifit if you feed it a steady stream of cool air.

The filter is kind of chillin on top of the hole where the OEM intake would sit. Isn't that being sourced from outside the car?

Kinda. If you remove your resonator it would be, but if you haven't then it won't really be.

Also you could remove your fog light blank for more air flow.

I tried pulling that out when i fist installed my intake, but i felt like I'd break it if I just pulled it out of the top. Is there another way to remove it?

Remove front bumper. Unbolt resonator. Pull out fog light blank. Just pull it, you won't break anything.

Aight thanks, sounds simple enough, but I'm sure I can turn it into a painful ordeal lol

The painful part is re-fitting the front bumper...and getting the alignment right.

I didn't have to remove my bumper but that's cause I REALLY didn't want to. I removed it all from the bottom (splash guard), to me that was alot less riskier than removing the bumper. But these guys on here are alot better at this than me so they might have a better way of doing it.

That is true. It will keep it cooler for a bit but then it will turn the filter into a over.
