Icon10 Great Gas Mileage

So, long story short, I drove 216 miles then filled it up with 7.996 so 8 gallons of 93 oct. That equates to 27 mpg. I didn't drive straight conservation and not just on the highway. I was stuck in traffic drove through the town a lot, made a lot of short, like 4 mile trips, and used vtec 3-4 times. Just thought I'd express my joy. What are yall getting btw?

The last time I measured, it was 26.6 mpg. I might save a little more if I didn't wind 3rd gear out so much so I can skip 4th and go to 5th.

I get 23 running that damn regular octane. Mostly on those damn hilly backroads, some damn highway and town driving too. I'm hoping to increase that number with one of those damn tune ups soon. I try to be as easy on that damn pedal as I can. I recently replaced my fuel filter and I think that helped my damn gas milage. This is Gary, signing off! damn it :wof:

I pulled a 304 mile tank the other week. I drive everyday to the honda plant in marysville and back. Until I get a new air filter and new IACV, that is the best I will get.

Yeah you'll definitely get better mileage with the higher octane... not to mention that fact that if you are runnin' an H22 with regular octane, you are definitely experiencing detonation and drastically reducing the life of your engine...

In laymans terms, octane rating is a measure of detonation resistance... the higher the octane, the more resistant it is to detonation... The H22 is designed to be used with 91+ octane gas... anything less is below the normal design of the engine, and will cause detonation... Detonation can ruin your engine over time, it can even punch holes in your pistons if bad enough...

In the lude I got a little over 28mpg every full up. on the inline six I'm getting 26.5mpg which is very surprising since I do a lot of running around in the City of Atlanta and little highway driving with this car. My toyota 4x4 is getting 25mpg too :)

^^^ Dude, so my tranny is on the way out and I've been driving very VERY conservativly... only .5 better mpg (Bringing it to 18.5 mpg). I'd be curious to know what kind of tune ups can bring back lost mpg.
