Crazy idea I had

So instead of wasting money on a basically stock replacement DC or Megan, I was wondering, does anybody know for a fact that I could cut my stock downpipe and do a 2.5" collector mod on it?
I'd rather be able to keep my stock head so I can keep the heat shield on in than have to do other custom **** to get it onto an aftermarket header.

Well they say that the DC is a direct replacement for stock, and they need the 2.5" collector mod, so why wouldn't it work?

Although the OEM header is crush bent, is the DC? I believe there's where the restriction lies. There's a bit of a discussion on the OEM header on PA atm. Thread is here ---> http://www.preludeaustralia.com/foru...ad.php?t=37391 (have to be logged in, but you have a user there anyway don't you?)

Yeah but I just can't bring myself to spend the money on a header and still have to spend money to modify it to get any use out of it.
OB, it's still custom work to do that, but I like it. When I get all my work done, it'll be sweet to spank a LS1 and still be able to convince him I only have an exhaust and suspension mods when I pop the hood.

In theory yeah you could mod your OEM header with the 2.5 inch mod... Just find out what type of metal it is before you jump into welding it so you can choose a proper filler metal.
