How to clear AC lines

is it ok to just unscrew one of the a/c lines and let the gas unpressurize? we are doing an engine swap on a mx3 right now,and the ac has to come off before we can get the engine out. please anyone?

Please don't do that. The refrigerant is an ozone depleting substance, meaning it ****s up the atmosphere. Call an AC re-gas place and get them to clear the system.

we had my uncle (works for a hvac and air conditioning place) come down and dispose of it correctly. we did infact get the engine out today. yesterday we had to buy/assemble an engine hoist because no one had one. so the three of us split it (150$- so 50 each) because ill need it for the lude when rebuild comes and my buddy ryan for his rx-7

Its my friend aaron's car. he wanted to do a KL-ZE but instead we found a BP out of a ford escort GT. its a 1.8 DOHC w/ cast iron block. so we bought that, the tranny, and everything else needed for the swap. plus a t3/t4 turbo pieced together set (all brand new) and are just going to boost it. we are hoping for 200 whp after a mild tune

yah freon hurts the ozone and is illegal to let into the atmosphere...also if it was r-12 then it is worth a lot of money, but is also illegal to sell unless if your licensed which my dad probly is lol he does hvacr..and probably illegal to have unless its in your car already, not that i care id sell it anyway

Sounds doable man... especially considering the BPT (OEM turbo version of the BP) hit around 165bhp and that is using a small OEM turbo.

That is an interesting swap, I've never heard of a mazda bp into an mx-3. Like I said, the JDM KL-ZE is a mean motor... you can hit 13s with it in an mx-6 with minimal bolt ons and a good clutch/flywheel setup.... you can make those little mx-3's fly with one of them lol. GL on the swap!
