clicking/ticking sound

I have a 98 Prelude and it’s an automatic. I live in North Carolina and recently the temperature is below 35 at night. I normally let my engine warm for about 30 sec or so and there are no problems… but when in gear and revving very low there is a slight click or ticking sound coming from under the hood. This has occurred on cold nights and ONLY in gear (if idle is doesn’t do anything, it sounds perfect). Do any of you know what’s happening with this?

get a valve adjustment done, your valves could be a tad loose. its not that expensive if you have someone do it, or you could do it yourself if you have a feeler gauge.

Thanks for your reply!! how much do u think the dealer will charge for a valve adjustment?? and do you have any other suggestions that it could be if it isn't the valves?

here you go..

basically get your valve / tapet clearance checked and your tappetts tightened..usually a loose tappet will cause your engine block to produce a ticking/tapping noise at idle or low revs..
