ABS Problem

I just got a '96 VTEC recently with 121,000 miles. The ABS light is on and the ABS does not work. The brakes work fine, just no anti-lock. I was told by my mechanic that the problem is that the ECU is reading 25 mph off from the actual speed of the car, and this is causing my ABS to be deactivated. He said the problem is in the electronics, not the speed sensor.

Has anyone had this problem before, and how hard is it to fix? I've done some work on cars before but never messed with any electronics. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know... He apparently was comparing the rates on the ECU vs. the speed sensor and the speedometer.

yea ABS works off of speed but the vss and speed sensors feed the DRAC which converts the signal from AC to DC for the speedo and the ABS control module... so if ones off I would imagine the other would be as well. Take a scan tool and get the code from the ABS like Nick said.
