i believe there is no difference - i hava a 4ws and have used shocks and springs from companies which say excl 4ws..SH has nothing to do with the shocks anyway..companies put it in anyway but they dont know any better.

Your ATTS unit that attatches directly to the driverside front axle as well as Sensors that go to each wheel. I looked at the Service manual and the suspension section is split up into 2 parts: one for systems w/ ATTS and another for those without. As far as the struts/coilovers, I called D2 (http://www.d2racing.com/) and asked them if there was a difference in the actual coilovers and they said they are the same exact product number. He said it is possible other companies didn't do enough research or do not want have any extra risks on their products or something like that. D2 has them though. Checkout http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1675839&page=1 Don't know the exact price but the amount of business these guys are getting is pretty attractive...

They all say "excl SH" but I've read about plenty of SH owners running Koni Yellows. So long story short it can be done. I'm not sure of any extra work that may be required though.

You should be fine with the konis. SH suspension is different in the front suspension with a different spindles, LCA, sway bars, UCA and basically everything except for the struts/shocks. The struts/shocks may be different by a little bit but nothing that I think would make a difference. But you should be fine with those.

I was told by BDogg...a VERY respectable Luder on many forums...that when using Koni Yellows on the SH, since they dont make Koni yellows for the SH, they must be used with whatever springs you want, but MUST BE SPRINGS FOR THE BASE MODEL. Don't ask why...cuz I didn't ask him. i just took his word for it.

I repeat. when using koni yellows, they can only be installed with base model aftermarket springs of your liking.

I had always heard that you can use any of the base model shocks/struts on the SH... but you could not use your Stock SH springs.

I was looking into new shocks, and I don't remember what brand it was now, but one of the websites i was at, surprisingly had those instructions. It still said "Except SH*" and then at the bottom it said "*These shocks may be used with the Type SH, but only with aftermarket springs" or some **** like that. I was surprised that they had that much info on it lol... it took me months of asking around to figure that out.

Yea, like BDogg mentioned, if youre going with aftermarket springs (dont know why you wouldnt) with Koni Yellows, make sure to get base springs.

BadMofo, are we just repeating eachother over and over? HAHA

^^ that's the website I was talking about it... take note of this quote.

"For 1998-01 Prelude SH, MUST use NEUSPEED spring kit, part number 55.20.16 (Sport) or 55.20.64 (Race), in order to use this shock - will not work with OE springs. Please call for details."

Ok... now take note of the part number for these shocks: 8041.1154SP3

If you go look at any other website that stocks this part number... it just says "excludes type SH". For instance.. go here. Notice that it SPECIFICALLY says "1992-2001 Honda Prelude
Excluding Type SH" but the part number is the same... "8041.1154SP3"

Also... if you go back to the neuspeed website, and select your car again. Go ahead and select the 4 differnet options you have (1997 Prelude Non-SH, 1997 Prelude SH, 1998-01 Prelude Non-SH, and 1998-01 Prelude SH) and click suspension. Notice that the schock absorbers listed for all 4 of these options, is always the same one. "8041.1154SP3" for the front, and "8041.1155SP3" for the rear.

This leads me to believe that the only difference between making these shocks fit on a base, or an SH, is that with the SH you MUST buy aftermarket springs. And for the Base, you can use aftermarket OR your stock springs. Make sense? It seems like with the exception of the NEUSPEED website, the other dealers of these shocks simply don't know that they can be fitted as long as you use after market springs.

In other words, even though those shocks are designed for the base model, you can use them anyway on your SH (as long as they are with aftermarket springs). Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that you can use ANY brand shock absorber that is made for the base model, as long as you buy the appropriate aftermarket springs. I don't see why only Koni's base-model shocks paired with an aftermarket spring kit would work on your SH, but no other brand's base-model shocks paired with an aftermarket spring kit would.
