Valve seal installation

Hi all,a few months ago I picked up a spare engine for my '00 base for super cheap at the local salvage yard so I decided to rebuild it myself. Disassembled and cleaned
it and checked it over and it's in amazingly good condition. I'm in the process of installing new valve seals on the head and forgot to look at how far down the valve guide the old seals were installed. I've done one seal so far but I'm not sure if it's on all the way. Should it be all the way down to the spring seat covering the guide completely or just to the point where you can still see some of the guide exposed?

Re: Valve seal installation

clean the valve guide very well where the seal touches. put oil on the valve seal before installing the seal, use a valve seal tool or socket+extension and give it one good hit.

Re: Valve seal installation

Yes. You need to dip the valve seal in some motor oil before punching it onto the valve guide. Oil will make it easier for the seal to go on the valve guide.
