1994 JDM H22A temp gauge problems

H22A Si Vtec Si Vtec Sport Package Si Vtec 4WS.

I have a 2000 Civic EK hatch with a h22a swap, EGR is disconnected(no blocking plate for valve but i'm pretty sure the ports are blocked, O2 sensor disconnected, both done by previous owner not sure why wondering if i could get an answer for that.

My main concern right now is that when idling the temp gauge will rise to normal but when driving it will drop to cold no matter how hard i push the car it will always stay cold but will rise back to normal after letting it idle for approx. 1-2 minutes. I have read a lot about it and am going to change thermostat tomorrow but everything i have read says that if the car still blows hot air when gauge is on cold then it is not the thermostat and that is the case ( still blows hot air when temp says cold). When i bought the car about a month ago it did not do this (although now it is winter and much colder outside). Any advise greatly appreciated.

sensor maybe?

37750-PH2-014 Thermo Unit (Denso) water temp sensor gauge

sound like previous owner have had problems with emissions so he have took those things out. Egr delete is ok but O2...you might have some problems there as well

Is it bad to run it without that part you mentioned? Like should i even drive the car to get the part?

theres 2 temp sensors on head (ecu and gauge) which give voltage to third one - fan switch which obviously turns your cooling fans on

or without O2? not wise - your A/F ratio would be horribly wrong

The coolant temp sensor isn't even there lol, but i have a switch i have to flip for fans but only had to use when the air temp outside was high.

Re: 1994 JDM H22A temp gauge problems

You either have a stuck thermostat or a faulty temp sensor. I am leaning towards the thermostat since it started doing it when it got cold outside.

This would be due to the cold air flowing through the radiator while the car is moving. You may still have heat but it might not be as hot as it could be.

Keep us posted!
