They're looking for 7000 euro, I don't know how that compares to America or the uk, but please let me know what you guys think

Oh and it has a 3 month warranty so hopefully any bedbugs I'll identify before this runs out.

So any advice?

Thanks mate, lol it's a manual

Just wondering if there're any weak areas in the car, and like if there any things that people forget that need to be maintained. Also if there are any things that I should do with the car similar to what you said Yogi.

I'm into classic cars as well, so I'm familiar with them having lots of weak areas and the idea that you have to check everything before you even consider buying!

Well, saw the car today and love it, so put my deposit on it and will collect next week!

If you can suggest things that I'll need to do or upgrade, like the sparkplugs for example, I'd love to hear!

btw, woo! I'm a Luder

Congratulations sir. I would start with plugs, wires, external coil, rotor, ground wires (these can give you as much as 5whp, bigger difference on older cars though). I got a Hyper Voltage system as well, no idea if it did anything.

Does anyone have an ignition system? You might want to look into that have it put in with all that other stuff.

My two biggest regrets when doing mods on my car were having items installed individually, i.e. I had my header and exhaust installed separately. Why didn't I just have them installed at the same time with a high flow catalytic converter? It would have been a lot cheaper. Same thing if you plan to get an intake/throttle body/intake manifold. The second was doing bolt on mods when for the same price and more hp I could have gotten valve-train, port&polish, and cams done. Of course I would have gotten the i/h/e and the gains from them would have been much more significant. I do still plan on getting my entire head done, some time early-mid next year, I want to lighten her up first though.

If you plan on getting any suspension work done get full coil over adjustable suspension, tein for sure. Get the strut tower bars and rear lower tie bar, and lower control arms skunk2.

Thanks guys, really a great help! Shall I keep this post open and show the progress (and questions/problems ) of the lude or is there a better area in forum?

Suppose I'll start with what you both said, I'm going to be keeping things as original as possible. Sure starting with a full service, I'm going to do those plugs and wires. When we talk IX Iridiums, are they the best? I searched the forum and what about plats? I don't mind spending anything up to 50euro if there are better ones out.

Wiring looms and stuff like that, I'll need more info on if I'm going to do this right.
I've done a quick search for a haynes manual and can't find anything

Btw.. "H/I/E and maybe an msd"?? <<??

..I'm such a newbie

Thanks 3rdGen

Got it for 6750 in the end, full service and valet. Thing that I love is its completely unmodified and its a 2 owner. Sure, I'll post a pic up when I get it this sat.

Btw, Can I change the main post title to "5thGen Newbie"? and make this a help me thread!

Also you couldnt find the haynes manual? check the 5th gen resource guide thread and you can get the real service manual!

Iridiums are great plugs btw I think Honda recommends platinum's. Iridiums are even more corrosion resistant, a better plug in my opinion.

This is the newbieest of questions, but... um... do 5th Gens have 4ws?

I thought they did, but the dealer selling me this car says they don't, thus this one can't. So I'm now wondering does that mean it's an option or submodel variation? Example, type S or SH? or do they all? The car for sale is the European 2.0l and my scary thought is maybe it has but it's broken/not working.
(btw I read somewhere that if they do break that the rear wheels just realign as per a normal car?? but are very expensive to fix)

So anyhow, I think I'll definitely go for the NGK Iridiums. Regarding wires, what about MSD? They have an 8mm wire. Can anyone suggest anything better?

Thanks

3rdGenCrazy, I've just been taking a look at some american prices with a similar spec, and omg! $11k for a '00 with twice the mileage! At the time when you said, I didn't think my deal was all that good! << very pleased

Yea man....my car cost me almost 12 grand....59K miles. Great car...definitely worth it.
Damn the tax and tag fees though....it cost me almost a grand to get it on the road. But once again. Worth it. Congrats on the Lude man. Welcome to the club.
