HELP: Rebuild a Rebuilt Engine or Full Engine Swap??

So I've always been an active reader of this forum but never have had to post because most situations have already been solved. But I'm new here and still have a lot to learn about my prelude. I'll get to my main question because I want to make a financially sound decision...

I had a 1997 Base model that was totaled a few weeks ago, but still has a good engine. I got the SH a couple of days ago for stupid cheap and a "rebuilt" engine with piston rings that weren't properly "seated" as the owner said. So the engine is exhausting blue and black smoke, which according to the OBD2 scan reading is that the fuel is running too rich(black smoke) and the piston rings are not seating or not installed properly(blue smoke).

Now I have two options...I could swap the base model engine and tranny from my 1997 lude into the SH for $300-$400. My good friend is a mechanic and does swaps so hes helping me out. The whole thing with towing and buying back my 97 lude from insurance would be around $1000. OR I could rebuild the "rebuilt engine" for god knows how much(gotta get an estimate).

The rebuilt engine already has a new clutch, water pump, pistons, rods, all new belts, and rings. So assuming the rings took a **** and there's a valve problem causing the rich fuel, would it be worth it to just replace the ****ty "rebuilt" parts or do a whole swap?
