2000 prelude over heating

Hey guys i just bought my first honda its a 2000 prelude. I've had it 2 weeks now and its started over heating randomly.checked fluids has rad fluid. I can drive the car for about 10 minutes then it startes to overheat. I tryed releasing any air in the cooling system still overheating. If i turn the ac on it shoots to hot as soon as its on both fans come on with the ac on. Checked the relay ans fuses everything is in working order. I havent done the oil check i will as soon as i get off. Also when i popped off the radiator cap there was a piece of gasket or something in the radiator. Im not leaking any fluids at this point. Does anyone know what this could be? Also my heater isnt blowing hot air just the outside air. Is this the issue maybe the water pump? Please help me out here.

Re: 2000 prelude over heating

Maybe its the thermostat, I had to do mine a few months ago. the job itself wasn't too bad and if u do tackle it get the one that has the failsafe that it stays open if it fails. I forgot which hose to squeeze, I think its the lower one and see if there is pressure in it, can't hurt to check the upper hose too. I think that can check to see if the water pump is working but I'm not too sure

Re: 2000 prelude over heating

I ended up taking the upper radiator hose off and the lower and shoving a water house thru the upper radiator house and just flushed it a couple times real good and now everything is working fine again. Kinda weird but it worked thanks for the help!
