Type S Front End, Spoiler

Hi everyone, I have the option to purchase a Type S Front End & Dash, & want to get everyone's opinion. Feel free to let me know what price would be good, as I have pictures of everything except for the power folding mirrors, but that's pretty self explanatory. My local JDM store has had this matching pearl white type s front end for a few weeks now, & I just discovered their inventory.

This is what I have to do, living in California. The JDM Type S has no CARB emissions certifications & qualifications, so it'd sadly & unfortunately never pass smog.

The first two pictures are of my parts, & am about to install.

What is a good price for everything except the first two pictures? Thank you for requesting me to clarify.

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

I've seen the JDM front ends near me sell between 700 and 1200 depending on the condition of the parts

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

SoFlaKidd, thank you very much for the price point.
Did you see the Type S or base sir front ends?
Did they also include the Type S navigation, tv, radio, Automatic A/C Climate Control Functions? I just want to know if those were also seen in your area, or if I may be overcharged.

I do appreciate your responses

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

i dont remember them coming with the full RHD conversion so that will probably cost more as i doubt they will split up the fenders/ grill/ bumper from the rest

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

A lot of JDM shops here in the Bay Area California sell the front end with no dash.
Here is an example.
http://www.jdmenginebay.com/details/...ml#prettyPhoto

The picture in the original post above have the engine bay + all the dash harness wires, cables, A/C motors, bezel, gauge cluster, wheel well, shocks/springs, strut bar, top hats, rotors, calipers, etc.

I would think your shops may not have had the items listed above, but I def could be incorrect. I'm just trying to see what other fellow prelude owners have seen. Thanks again for the responses.

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

I was offered a front clip for 1500 last I spoke with an importer with a few in stock - but i feel it was all way overpriced. wasn't worth more than 900.

lip
fogs
headlights
fenders
hood
doors
window visors
front clip
dash
all harness'
digital climate control
power folding mirrors
carbon cluster
carpet
carbon trim

Re: Type S Front End, Spoiler

If you wait another 5 years you'll be able to import an actual Type S

Although finding a 1996 isn't the easiest thing

Which city are you in wing8806? I do agree with you that it isn't worth more than about $1000, but I think the pricey/expensive/in demand part is the Type S climate control (touchscreen, navigation, tv, radio, A/C) go for about $400+ on forums? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also how much more is the Type S spoiler, bumper, fender (side marker)? So I can add those to the price point we are talking about. I appreciate your reply & helping out, very much.

I see your point elspectro29. However, I believe 30 years is the date for cars to be smog exempt in strict California. I am using my prelude as a daily driver.

Here is what I can find:
$200 Could Get You Out Of A Classic Car Smog Check In California

Yet, in this DMV webpage, I cant find anything about the "30 years exemption"
California Smog Check | DMV.org

ADDITIONALLY, it must have originally be Emission Certified by California, which is so sad that I can't import any car OUTSIDE THE USA models, that are over 30 years old (unless I want to pay tens of thousands of dollars to certify the car in CA):

"Exception number two: the great state of California, whose emissions laws are stricter than the federal government’s. You see, while the EPA exempts vehicles on a rolling 21-year basis, meaning that anything age 21 or older is exempt from federal emissions laws, California laws start with all vehicles manufactured after 1975. In other words: if your car is newer than 1975, and it was never originally certified to operate in California, you must go about getting it certified there – even if it’s already legal in every other state. Since this process can cost thousands of dollars, I won’t be doing this – which means my car can’t go to a buyer in California."
Here Are The Four Legal Ways To Import A Car To The United States

Thanks for the suggestion though.
