I'm new here!
Hello guys, Well after a year of driving my 2001 honda prelude type SH I decided to upgrade my exhaust to something more enjoyable. Ah! is really hard to decide on a exhaust you looking at when you rely on is those damn Youtube videos with bad quality, I've looked at so many that now I'm tired of it and ready to give up. I desire an exhaust that is not a giant whale fart canon, non of that ricey stuff. So far I looked at Greddy, Tanabe, Apexi, Skunk2, WS2, Hyper Medallion, Flowmaster, Buddyclub SpecII, and Magnaflow. I would like a deep sexy sound, not to loud since it's my daily driver. I really didn't want to post this, I know you guys already have a ton of these on forum. Based on your experience, what would you guys recommend? I heard alot of good things on the Greddy Evo2. Also forgot to mention, everything in the car is stock.
You guys are awesome! Love from Houston, TX..... Thanks! |

Re: I'm new here!
I have a 2001 Type-SH as well & I'm Houston, TX too.
I want to get a MugenTwin loop catback, But it's like $1200+. :( But since it is Mugen, you know it will give you extra Unicorn power ![]() But I don't got the mulla, so its in the top 5, but its not going to happen for a looongasss time. But yeah anything else should be aight. ![]() |

Re: I'm new here!
If you guys need used parts hit up Prelude1897. He buys crashed and broken Preludes and sell us parts at great prices.
He's in Arlington. Check the for sale/part outs and you'll see his threads. About 25% of my car is from Texas..between an 01preludeblue and a few of Brians...

I see the 'malaysian' fog light kits for like $70 and turn signals about $65 a lot... But if you need stuff to restore your car or just swap for better, mr 1897 has ya covered. Stuff like suspension parts, brake stuff, interior pieces and the like.

Re: I'm new here!
Oh, and back on the subject, I will be looking to replace my exhaust in the near future and have been thinking of a Flowmaster type muffler with the dual out and having the "S" pipe custom made to fit from the CAT back. I have a shop I use for all of my cars and they do great work for reasonable prices so I'll most likely use them. I also thought about going with a header and replace the stock CAT with a high flow aftermarket and possibly increasing the diameter of the pipes all the way out the back. Aside from the headers, I am sure I can get the CAT, pipes, and muffler installed for under $400, based on previous work I had these guys do and prices of similar parts I put on other cars. www.SummitRacing.com has painted PaceSetter Headers for $240 and ceramic coated for $340... I need to go back and see if these were of acceptable quality or not...
Just throwing that out there.

Re: I'm new here!
Ensure ceramic coating is on the inside as well. Otherwise the outside only coating can cause premature metal fatigue. I got to reading up on it one day and was astounded at the outside only vs inside/outside.
Check out the jet-hot site sometime...If memory serves they have a place in Texas. (Edit: Oklahoma, and not Texas) I'm thinking of having somebody like them do a header for me someday. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-hi-temp-i...ension-tu.html ^^ or here is an option...

Re: I'm new here!
Oh Yeah, Jet-Hot is the way to go. I bet that they are "proud" of their wok too! But like they say, "You get what you pay for and you DON'T get what you DON'T pay for..."
Mike, do you know if there was an alignment/fitment issue with those Pacesetter headers? I remember reading a thread on the ones to buy and the ones to avoid... Don't worry about it... I'll go back and research as the time gets closer. ![]() And Oh Yeah! (Said like the Kool-Aid Man!) I didn't know that Eastwood Internal Header coating In-A-Can existed! That is a Must Have for my upcoming project(s)!

Re: I'm new here!
Figgin Eastwood is the bomb!
My wife and I are splitting the cost of powder coat equipment from there later thus year...and a thrift store toaster oven.lol... Is the Pacesetter header(s) for your Buick? I'm not familiar with that brand in detail. Here's some reviews I found. I read some stuff at Super Chevy that gave them the okee-dokee. http://m.autoanything.com/exhausts-m...omerReviewsTab http://m.autoanything.com/exhausts-m...A2836A0A0.aspx Sounds like right many folks like 'em just fine for their Suburbans Edit: read a bit about the prelude version..it's like you say...mixed reviews.

They have the plain ones, which are painted gloss black, but the paint isn't heat-proof http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ps.../model/prelude and they also have their signature "Armor Coated" ceramic headers, which are chrome-ish. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ps.../model/prelude They both have the bungs for the O2 sensors and for the EGR tube, and come with a new down pipe and the flex tube! I am going to look into if there were fitment issues, but I am thinking that Pacesetter was one of the brands that was pretty well made. I know I saw one brand (Can't remember which) complained that the down-pipe was made like 1.5" too long on the header side so it had the potential to hit the ground even worse than the stock one. A couple others had flange issues, like they wouldn't seal properly to the head. As for powdercoating, the guy I use has a setup large enough to do 20" rims. He converted and old fridge and some propane burners into a heater! The rims for my burb came out nice and so i'll be using him to do all the accessories and brackets for my Buick. He's also going to do the headers for my Buick. He has this spray on ceramic paint that you rattle can on and it cures when you run the engine, So no heater curing is necessary. I would prefer for it to be oven cured myself and since it is a dull grey, I might have him put a layer of the high temp silver powdercoat over that to make them look chrome or aluminumized.
