1996 prelude problems help

I have a 1996 prelude, a few days ago my car died we jump start it but o would just die after a few minutes. Now when I start it it wont crank, and the light on the dash board wont light up.

Could the problems be?
-alternator
-shortage on fuse

Or if anything else please lmk (:

Have you checked that battery and alternator since it started doing this to make sure that they are still good?

Does it make a clicking sound when you try to start it?

Really sounds like the battery is dead, but the question to answer would be why is it dead (if it is)?

Re: 1996 prelude problems help

Car start 101:

Battery has 12 volts. Starter draws power from battery to turn a gear and makes engine spin. This causes suctions and exhausts to occur in the motors block. Fuel and air combined. Electricity is used to cause air and fuel to explode. Once a couple of explosions occur, this causes motor to rotate on it's own through continued explosions.
At this time the alternator creates the electricity to keep feeding zaps to the air and fuel, which keeps motor rotating. Battery is now not part of the process.
In addition the alternator sends extra electricity to the battery to replenish the power the starter took from it. All the while a voltage regulator keeps volts...regulated.
Sometimes the alternator fails to recharge the battery. It could be connections to the battery are not getting power there effectively due to broken wires or gunk between the battery post and the wire connection. Sometimes parts inside the alternator are not functioning so it don't produce electricity properly. Sometimes the belt that makes the alternator spin is loose so alternator does not rotate fast enough to produce proper amounts of electricity.
Now if your battery does not hold a charge anymore your alternator can send electricity to the battery all day, but the battery may not accept this electricity. Then after car is turned off it's up to the battery again to start it.
