Security Help

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for security options I can use on my 92 Prelude, It came with nothing and I would sleep better knowing that there are least some deterrents in the way. I am on a budget right now so I cant spend to much. I was thinking of just starting with a hidden kill switch somewhere. Any tips on good alarm systems that are not to expensive? I know I am going to have to get it professionally installed and that's gonna cost a lot probably, I don't know anyone that is to familiar with electrical stuff other than a simple kill switch.

Re: Security Help

Simple, cheap solution is take off your coil wire each night. Car theives generally don't keep a spare coil wire with them. Tow theives can't be thwarted generally so nothing short of electrocution or explosions will stop them.

Don't leave anything showing others would want. That stops the smash n grab type guy from breaking your glass.

The #1 car theft deterent is a car cover. They start around $35.

One night my vehicles got hit. 3 outta 5 were broken into and pillaged. The 2 preludes I had were under car covers, unlocked and had a bunch of good stuff for the theif to sell on CL. But they were untouched.

Re: Security Help

Hadn't even thought of a car cover as a theft deterrent, thats pretty cool. No idea what a coil wire is, I will try looking it up and then have my brother show me how to remove it. Only thing of value (besides the car) is the radio and it has a removable faceplate I take with me every time i leave the car, so hopefully nobody will want to bother risking it to check things out. Thanks again, you helped on both my posts so far.

Use another car to block it in your driveway

I'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Re: Security Help

I believe the ancient solution is "to hide a prelude, use a forest..... Of other preludes I guess lol"

^^ the coil wire etc
This is a photo of the distributor cap removed from the the distributor.
I added it to show you what folks mean when they say replace your cap, rotor and plug wires.
