H22 build suggestions

I am starting my H22 build finally and was looking for a lil input on things. I am not sure if I wanna boost it or not or how I wanna build it yet but, this is where I am at.

https://i.psjb.me/#29

- JDM H22
- Darton MID sleeves
- JE Pistons
- Eagle rods

I have in my sights:

- Innovative mounts
- ARP studs

My block will be sent in to be sleeved shortly, aside from that I am not sure how I wanna proceed. Again, just looking for suggestions because I am not really set on anything yet.

Dont really have any aside from the desire to have a bullet proof block. (Since i burnned oil in the last and spun a bearing) It wont exactly be a DD and have no intentions of making it a "race car". Clean power, reliability (so no turbo probably), for just a fun car...

Re: H22 build suggestions

Pretty much its just not the vehicle i am going to drive in the snow or to/from work downtown (for obvious reasons). Aside from that if I am not on the bike, I will be in the Lude. If I could get some power without having to to be in v-tec, mid-range, that would obviously be key too. I was playing with the idea of ITBs, or a JRCS, again depending on which way I wanted to go. I am wondering how much I should bother building the motor as compared to just boosting it, but again just brainstorming really, there is no wrong answer.

Re: H22 build suggestions

If that's a pic of the JE pistons you own now, what's the CR? They look pretty flat so I'm assuming somewhere in the neighborhood of 10:1? If that's the case, you're floating in the middle of a good NA build that you'd need a higher compression for, and a good boost build you'd need lower compression for, though I've been seeing more and more 10:1 CR boost builds lately. I'd say since you're sleeved, find a smaller turbo like a GT28 and run 10-12psi if you wanna maintain the ability to run pump gas. If you do it right you could probably be around 300hp and still be pretty reliable.

I'm not really a turbo guy but I mention the GT28 turbo because you mention you're looking for more mid-range power, and in that series of turbo you can find a few that reach full spool quicker (at the sacrifice of top-end power). There's a lot of 'GT28xxx' models, but I'd say look into them and see what you find.

Looks like they are 9:1, so with that and a sleeving, i guess there is no reason to not boost it.
