H22 low head oil pressure problem

hey

In dyno we encountered new problem: after 4th pull we started to lose some power from vtec area - not enough oil pressure for high rpms

Theres still plenty of oil so we thought that might be some blockade somewhere...

Any thoughts?

Any things what we should check?

Like

-Vtec solenoid wiring
-vtec solenoid gasket
.........continue the list

Or can it be the vtec oil pressure switch? Its only couple years old...

After some looking from net I found this:

vtec won't work in my boys h22a civic please help - Honda Prelude Forum

Quote:
We posted our problem of low pressure in the head and tons in the block. The reply we got, was to take the oil orfus out of the block. We took the orfus outta the head about 3 months ago to see if that'd work and obviously it didn't work. We never thought of pulling the orfus in the block though. Well we pulled the orfus in the block and vtec works finally
So wheres that orfus/orifus located? Pics would help

Thx

Re: H22 low head oil pressure problem

Vtec is either working or not working. It doesn't work partially as that is not the way the system works. Either there is enough oil pressure to lock the vtec rocker or there isn't.

If it wasn't working, the power loss would be VERY noticeable (50-60whp type power).

Re: H22 low head oil pressure problem

The orifice in the block is only present in non vtec h series. In order to add a vtec head and vtec to work, this orifice plug has to be removed. If you don't have a 23 block, it's not a concern
