Icon5 need help jdm h23

sorry if posted in wrong place i'm new

i have a 97 Honda civic jdm h23 swap was running good until i busted the oil pan i swapped it out with a h22a4 oil pan and my oil light started coming on, i kept driving it because it's my only car now i noticed a misfire so i went to change my spark plugs and they had oil on the top and bottoms of them. i'm buying a new vale cover gasket and new spark plug seals which i hope fixes the oil in the spark plugs but why is my oil light coming on and what else could it be if this doesn't fix the spark plug problem

i have a new oil pump which was put in with the swap roughly 4,000 since the swap

Re: need help jdm h23

Did you check other components when changing the oil pan?
Such as the oil pickup?

Re: need help jdm h23

It all looked good did not look damaged at all, if i was to pull the oil pan off and re-check it would i need a new oil pan gasket or can i re-use the one on there? Does it matter that i use the USDM H22A4 oil pan?

Re: need help jdm h23

Also, a little more info on you busting the oil pan?
Simply dented it?

Or punctured a hole in it, and deprived the engine of oil?

Is the H23a Vtec oil pan gasket a rubber gasket? Or simply honda-bond between the gasket and block?
Cuz if its the rubber gasket, as long as it's in good condition with no tears, smushes, or stretches you can reuse it. (you basically gotta decide for yourself on its condition, or just get a new one)

Re: need help jdm h23

The headers got pushed up in to the oil pan and put a 1in crack in it
i parked the car right after it had happened.
The H22A4 oil pan on with a rubber gasket so i should be able to re use it. It is like a week old.It hit hard but, i didn't think it would be hard enough push it up into the oil pick up.

Re: need help jdm h23

You can also just put some liquid there like loctite - thats how we sealed my oil pan

Re: need help jdm h23

Theres 3 reasons for that vtec doesn't engage (+electrical ones) which come straight into my mind

1. You dont have enough oil in your engine
2. Your oil pressure switch/sensor is bad
3. Vtec solenoid is bad

Yup, extremely common problem, and easy as hell to fix. Would def cause those problems as well.

Re: need help jdm h23

Bad sensor can cause low oil pressure that vtec wont engage

Oil leak can cause that theres not enough oil that vtec can engage
