ever since the build the alarm seems to be dead, no light on the dash at all
tried to reset with fob but nothing. worked before.

i was looking at what i think is the cobra siren and there is a black wire not going anywhere what is this wire? , see pics

Re: prelude cobra alarm dead

Since we're only experts on PRELUDE'S here, not Cobra alarms, I'd contact Cobra themselves, or try to find the manual and diagnose it yourself

The difference between hooking that up to ground or 12volt could result in burning your car to the ground, or not

Re: prelude cobra alarm dead

the siren on most alarms has just 2 wires coming out of it. Power and ground....that's the ground wire....however, it doesn't explain why the alarm doesn't work. That ground is usually just for the siren itself and you would still be able to arm/disarm the system. Sounds like sometime during the build, one of the harnesses or wires got disconnected. I would find the brain (probably under the dash) and see if anything is clearly unplugged. Other than that, you'll have to find the wiring diagram for the alarm (not to the car) and start testing wires. It can be a long process
