Slipping in 3rd/4th.

Ok, long story short. Im in the process of teaching my girl how to drive stick. After some clutch burning... over revving... stalling... running over curbs... ect... im slipping in 3rd and 4th. engine revs at about 3k with no/ very little acceleration. Sometimes it actually dosnt slip. but normal slippage always happened around 4-4.5 . Cars a 85 Prelude, 1.8L 5 Speed, anyone have some ideas?

How far up is the clutch engagement point? If it is right at the top of the pedal then the master cylinder can stop the clutch from fully engaging. It can be adjusted down though.

If this is not it then she may have burnt out the clutch.

Sorry to say, you need a qualified mechanic to look at this. Unless you are a mechanic, there's not much an owner can do to fix a faulty transmission. It will probably require lots of labor - prepare yourself for a hefty price tag.
