On a daily driven car, or one that's on the streets often - it's a waste of time and money.

If you need to remain obd2, you will throw a CEL.

The car will need to be tuned.

A way to filter air will need to be considered.

It's the same concept on any 4banger honda... Try again.

1. Money, lots and lots of money.

Honestly if it is performance you are after then you're starting at the wrong end. Spend the same amount on some headwork and bolt-ons or even a turbo and you'll have a much more powerful motor anyway. As Wing said filtration is an issue since the stacks will sit so close to the firewall, not really a good idea for a DD.

Check out Big Mike's build for ideas if you are dead-set on the idea though.

The only thing I agree with wing8806 is the Tune. You'll need one badly. Your money to play with.

You do however lose:

Streetability
Silence
Ability to drive in the rain

Not to mention a lasting fabrication of 4 throttlebodies so you don't suck them in. If you want better results and a nicer engine dressup, go with a vented valve cover setup

Re: What do i need for an ITB setup?

just adding ITB's (without them being correctly sized, designed) to a stock engine could potentially hurt power.

my race engine picked up a bunch of power.....from 8300-9200rpm over a plenum setup. I also paid 2100 dollars for them not including the rest of the stuff needed to have them properly work.

stick to an standard plenum setup.

Re: What do i need for an ITB setup?

so you guys kind of answered my question but i mean is there any other parts i need to build this to handle the itbs? i mean would i basically need to rebuild the motor like pistons, cams, etc? im just trying to figure out the parts so i can figure out the costs and such. and no im not on a budget. so if you feel like recommending manufacturers thatd be cool too.

That's not really the point, you don't NEED to upgrade anything to run ITB except the ECU. ITB's don't really create power but they improve throttle response at high RPM and help improve flow to a heavily worked motor.

The point is you SHOULD rebuild the motor first. Throw on some new cams, valves, retainers, springs, pistons, rods, rebuild the bottom end, port and polish, get a good header, etc. before even contemplating ITB's.

Now after you've sunk a good few thousand into the thing and you decide ITB's are for you, and it is still going to be a DD, then consider going with a air plenum box connected to a filter rather than tuned velocity stacks. You'll lose a little of the benefit but you'll avoid sucking dirt into the motor.
