Speed sensor

Hey guys! I searched and searched on this website but could not find the answer to the problem I am having, so my apologize if its already been answered! I own a 94 prelude SI non vtec Over the winter I did a automatic to manual swap but after the swap was finished I realized that my spedometer was not working. I blew an intake manifold gasket, and took apart the whole backside of the engine to replace it. I realized that i never bolted the speed sensor into the transmission, then also noticed that the bolt hole for the sensor and the bolt hole for the transmission do not align properly. My question is, is there a speed sensor for an automatic and a different one for a manual? i have searched on ebay, and other forums but cannot find one and am really nervous of buying one because i want to make sure that the two holes line up so i can bolt it in properly!! thanks.

Re: Speed sensor

Correct, there are different speed sensors between auto's and manuals. I think the electrical part of them are the same, but the gear that dips down into the transmission is different in tooth count and size, so you will need to find one from a manual. I had one break a few years ago and had success using the sensor out of a 5 speed Accord I came across at my local junkyard.

Re: Speed sensor

Speed sensors for auto operate for the 4 gears. For stick shift it's for 5 gears. And Honda was smart enough to make one not fit in the same hole as the other.

Try parts geeks.com.
