stereo code

so i just got my prelude (2001) from my brother in law and he never new what the stereo code anti theft code was and i am unable to find it. is it written down anywhere in the car? can i just take it in to honda dealer? or should i just buy a new stereo?

If you take out the radio, there is a number you can call. And just give them your VIN & radio number and they give it to you. Done this twice

Yes, what lazar said works best, I remember when I needed the code for some reason the honda dealer couldn't give it to me, don't remember why. I ended up just going and getting a new radio

Just call the honda dealer, unless it is written in your owners manual. But it might not be the original stock radio....

But once you get the code keep it handy cause everytime your battery is disconnected for a certain period of time. I think it might be instantly, it will reset and the code will need to be reentered
