Mother nature will hate you for gutting a catalytic converter

Change your 02 sensor already...and then get a replacement high flow catalytic converter from ebay...Magnaflow, CatCo. etc etc and go to an exhaust shop for them to weld it on.

Emissions is important.

DON'T knock it out. Besides having bad emissions, you'll throw a code, and the car will be loud and raspy.

x2. cats are there for a reason. there is no reason to remove a cat from a street car. at all. i need to dig up this article i read a while back. they've done tests on a car with a stock cat, an aftermarket high flow cat, and a test pipe. in the end, the test pipe yielded the most gain as expected. but guess how much more versus a high flow cat? 1 or 2. now is 1 or 2 really worth risking a ticket and ****ing up the environment?

i ran a code maching on my 5th gen due to a CEL and it said my cat was bad so i need to replace. Now a muffler shop told me i needed a 3-way cat or if i just used a high flow or something else it would be throwing the same CEL code in about 2 weeks - 2 months. Is this true or would i be ok with something like this: ebay link

it says its for 5th gens, its OBD II compliant, and its a 2"... it also says it might require welding, so its not gonna be a direct bolt up.. but everything should match up.

The guy at the shop is talking about the OEM cat which costs up the wazoo at Honda. That or he's just trying to con you and actually charge you Honda prices for a generic one...

That one i showed you is fine and will work with your OBD II Prelude...just get the shop to weld it in for you

ok... now, i've heard that gutting or even deleting a cat doesnt really do anything for gains in ponies, but at the same time i've heard it does, u'd think it would since the cats are somewhat "restrictive." but in the book "Hacks and Mods for Dummies" (YES i read it, and it educated me!) by David Vespremi (automotive consultant to Tech TV) that it doesnt really do anything for gains!.. so my ?, i thought i'd post it here since this thread is about cats, does gutting/deleting a cat get u anymore ponnies?

Deleting the cat does not really increase any power...what you are doing is harming the Earth ever so more...plus you stink up the streets everytime you drive away

If you want a free-flowing exhaust, then just a do a straight pipe - no cat, no resonators, no muffler. You also need one of these:
