Dad's Car

Hey guys, I wasn't sure where to post this considering that it isn't about a prelude. My dad had a 2000 mercury sable and it wont start. It cranks, has power, but wont start. Im thinking either fuel pump or something with ignition. He had recently just had the ignition coils replaced and the each cylinder and worked fine but now nothing. Help???

Re: Dad's Car

Ford products since the 70's use an ignition module on the fire wall on the driver side near the brake booster.
Aaaaand since the 70's, many of them don't work when it rains or there is heavy fog. Don't know if that's your dad's issue or not. But if it is Bosch sells a replacement unit that does not have the oem issue. I think I paid about $25 w/ shipping a few years ago when an F150 we had refused to start whenever it rained. Sometimes the next day...

Edit:
Ogs, you ever have that with your vans?

Re: Dad's Car

never had that problem with my vans. but whenever a part in the ignition system on one of my fords fails, I always replace with bosch.

Re: Dad's Car

Another thing to do is pull the maf sensor and check/clean it. It will stop a lot of them from running. My grandfather's lincoln MKZ had one time where it wouldn't start, and that was the problem. And when I got my Mazda 6 it wasn't running right because it had the wrong maf in it (and it had other problems too but the maf was causing the hesitation)
