Icon1 cant take my prelude

ok so hondas are easy to steal where i live at & an alarm really doesnt help
much i seen thief's cut the alarm real quick... peoples cars got tow away by thief's even cars with wheel locks got dragged away

what can you do to at least make it harder for thief's to take it fast at least slow them down enough that i would make it out side in time

i seen to many hondas out in the streets stripped & left naked....

If you'd spend a third of the time reading as you do making threads that ask questions already answered a million billion times...
You'd be able to teach the class by nightfall.

I mean seriously. Feed yourself for once!

Unfortunately living in NYC there is no way to keep from people messing with your ride. Unless you invest in a garage/parking lot space. Which we all know can get expensive.

Re: cant take my prelude

State Farm says a car cover is the #1 theft deterant.
One night three of my vehicles got hit. They were locked.
My covered unlocked preludes were not touched.

I was new once.

I spent hours and hours reading old threads.

I also used a search engine. Some call it google, others call it bing. Whichever you choose, chances are your quest for knowledge will pop up and in about 4-1/2 minutes you have read more information than you will read on the thread you posted.
Places like pz, prelude power, honda-tech, prelude toronto, prelude online, and so on pop up every time I search.

But.... if you'd rather create another thread and hope that somebody gives their opinion instead of arming yourself with knowledge, that's on you.
But when a mod closes a multitude of threads and says search, it's not wise to continue to create more threads.

Just trying to help you help yourself.

Re: cant take my prelude

I made a post if u look in my profile in how to make a fuel cut off/kill switch. U could club it. Alarm it, lojack it, quick release it. Hide ur valuables, don't put stickers on the alarm u have. Have full coverage. My buddies got his stock 5th gen auto stolen and they payed him over 5 grand

Re: cant take my prelude

150db Truck horn hooked up to the courtesy lamp with remote switch. Unmistakeable deterrent. Hood locking pins to keep a thief from popping the hood from the cabin. Regular alarm to throw off the thief for what the truck horn is hooked into.

Lowjack.

Re: cant take my prelude

Currently, I just pull the coil pack wire and bring it with me if I'm in a sketchy area and get worried that my car will be stolen. I also pop to positive cable off to make it a little harder to get in. (Mine's got the BS problem that other 4th gen's have too that any key can unlock both the doors from the passenger side, pull the battery cable and only my key works.)

Re: cant take my prelude

Ya gotta spend a few ticks thinking like the typical thief...

- You aint gonna stop a pro unless you own something the pro doesn't want. Like an old Escort or a Kia. Well you own a Prelude. Not many pros want the typical prelude unless it obviously has expensive parts like high dollar stuff. Keep your car low profile to avoid the guy with the tow truck wanting your car. He is in a hurry, but since most folks figure he's just a repo man, he isn't in a rush like the smash n grab guy.

- The smash n grab thief is in a hurry. They want to grab stuff quickly and move on. Stuff that's easily 'grabbed' should be hidden from view. Tinted windows and a windshield screen helps.

- The wheel stealer guy can grab your wheels in about a minute.
Use multiple wheel locks of differing 'keys'. Share one with your buddy who shares his with you.

- Bottom line here is the car thief is in a hurry. Make it take longer to gain access. That's why a car cover is so effective. Not practcal at the mall, but for overnight a locking cable will slow down the cover removal.

- Keep good insurance.
