Icon9 Oil Pressure Light came on - low OP and now knocking

Hi Gang -

My son was driving his 1996 Honda Prelude and the oil pressure light came on he pulled over and checked the oil level and it was low so added oil, then he proceeded to drive it home and while doing this the engine began to knock, so vehicle has been parked. It just had an oil change in April and his dad started it today to check on it and it immediately starts to knock. Checked oil levels and it registered fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to check before checking with our mechanic on Tuesday? Could this be spark plugs, engine coils, oil pump...any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

The bowels of that engine are completely destroyed. You most likely spun a bearing which usually takes out the crank, and if driven on for long enough, the spinning bearings destroy the journals of the engine block.

Drain the oil, and if you see alotta metal shavings in the oil.... better start planning for an engine swap/rebuild. Swap would be easier, IMO.
