I was told this head gasket was pretty much bulletproof. I'm really pissed. Although it might be a coolant jacket. there was quite a bit of material taken outta that thing. ugh.

It's been done for over a year, I've changed the oil 3 times and check the coolant regularly. I've only put 1000 miles on it since the build.

my main problem is I don't know jack about the AEM EMS that controls the car.

thing is the car does NOT blow coolant unless it's in vtec.......... it's fine if I keep it under 5400rpm.

You got to be F U C K ING kidding me right. try changing the oil ( my buddies civic would blow a **** ton of smoke out of it when it needed an oil change, no im not kidding and honda did all they could to find out wtf was wrong with and they never found anything. Oh and he still has the car and its been 7 years now)

The first thing that comes to mind is a cracked head. I mean a regular leak down test wont detect it. only a machine shop can because the crack only expands and reduces depending on the climate conditions (how the engine is behaving). Lets hope is just a head gasket.

like someone said earlier check your oil stick and see if you have coolant mixing with the oil.


p.s. I have a easy fix... just give me your engine.... lol that should be more than enough motivation to fix her up... it'll get better D..

pull the head off and have a look.

this motor has only been street tuned correct? I would advice you to start reading the AEMpower forum and getting used to the program. Tuning is not hard when you understand what your supposed to do.

Takin the head off is an option, but I don't have a garage. with my hectic schedule there is no way I'd be able to tear it down, diagnose the problem and fix it in one day. I'm building a garage lol.

he tuned it on the dyno. I have it posted up here somewhere.
I did not know AEM had a forum for the tuning of their EMS systems. I'll definately look into that.

You know what they say, "people tend to be scared of things they don't understand" I guess holds true for me and my EMS

pulling the head off is not too bad man i did it on my h23. then again i dont have the vtec stuff to deal with when i reassemble it. we have faith in you

do a compression test and a leakdown test. That will help you and the rest of us out alot more at figuring out what it is. These are both simple tests and should take no more than an hour to complete both of them...


Ive also been down the AEM EMS route.. I have Hondata now and prefer it 100x over AEM EMS... Its purely up to you, but you may wanna sell the AEM and go with Hondata because of ease of use and reliability.
