f*#* Egr code p0401

Ok so my car threw a CEL light on about 4 months ago for p0401 that's when I removed my whole intake mani and clear the egr system out with carb cleaner and compressed air and I removed each individual plug and cleaned it thoroughly. Well the code went away like I thought it would an after 3 months of goodness it reappeared it. What would make it reappear so quickly? I know I need a new catalytic converter but would that effect the buildup in the egr system?

Did you clean the actual EGR valve?

The valve could be dirty or bad, and no a catalytic converter has no effect on your egr.

Yea I cleaned the actual egr valve to and got a new gasket. Well I just took the egr valve off and it was full of soft carbon this time so it was easy to clean and I shot some carb cleaner into the intake and exhaust ports in the intake mani I'm going to see if that helps break of some soft carbon and if not I'm going to pull the plugs again and clear it out with compressed air
