Junkyard Run 2/15/13

Hey guys. I'm gonna make a run to the u-pull it junkyard on Friday to get some parts for this VW Pissat I picked up and can look out for parts that you all might need. I'm going during lunch (2-3 hrs max) so I won't have loads of time to pull complicated stuff but will do my best. I also won't have room for large items and frankly don't wanna hassle with shipping them either (If you really want something crazy we can talk but you'll have to make it worth my time) :P I know some of you have a hard time finding parts cars and what not. I'll charge you cost + shipping. Tips are welcomed but not necessary!

Here are the cars listed in inventory. I have no idea on the condition of them.

Honda Prelude 1988 I009
Honda Prelude 1988 I028
Honda Prelude 1988 I029
Honda Prelude 1988 I029
Honda Prelude 1988 I042
Honda Prelude 1989 I010
Honda Prelude 1990 I022
Honda Prelude 1991 I009
Honda Prelude 1992 I017
Honda Prelude 1994 I043
Honda Prelude 1995 I035

Post here for parts you want me to look out for. I can post their listed prices for just about anything you're after so you can decide if it's worth it or not. I'm currently on the lookout for:

Mike
Air Vent (3rd Gen Passenger Dash - Tan)
'91 5speed Shift Boot
Grommets (Hood Prop)

Re: Junkyard Run 2/15/13

Most of those prices are on par with va junkyards. But they charge for a cigarette lighter? Here they don't.
Speaking of that.. if they have an embossed one in a 3rd gen, please get me one.and a hat. If the t-shirts are not black, an xl please.
Thanks G-Force!!!!

They don't charge for a cigarette lighter cuz, well, ya know they only search tool boxes ;)

Your price list had 'em$1.99 lol.
I don't put anything in my pockets, toobox or others places. All stuff goes in the wheelburrow regardless of how small. You'd be suprised how much stuff they give ya if you let them see that. I've never been asked to see inside my toolbox.
Last trip dude gave me the speaker covers from an 89 and a 99. The rear console and elbow pads too.
Nowadays they remember my son and I and say 'the preludes are on rows such n such' lol.

Re: Junkyard Run 2/15/13

They make enough money off me there and their prices have gotten rather inflated so I have no shame. Plus they never give anything. They make sure to charge for every single piece. I've had to disassemble axles, manifolds and all just because their was a sensor attached or bracket that isn't considered part of it. Like really?

Never the less I commend your honesty! Person to person, small business, local etc I'm as honest as it gets but when it comes to national chains nickel and dimeing me, eh.

I'm going back tomorrow to grab some black vents from an 89. Should look good with the tan dash board.

Man I need to hit up some junkyards again...I stopped as soon as it got cold out and snow fell.

bykfixer that tan interior is really nice. A black 3rd gen lude is one of the very few cars I'd actually want to rock a tan interior. lol btw what's with the seatbelts and why doesn't my 3rd gen have it like that? :(

Re: Junkyard Run 2/15/13

I mauled an 89 in the snowy rain saturday. Gore tex and mechanix gloves baby. You get 30 days around my town and off to the crusher. Got all the black stuff i could get in the wheel burrow in about an hour. Door panels, glove box, cluster molding etc. Switches, locks, the works. $89! Some of the stuff i got for spare parts retails $500+.. if you can find it.
5th gens? You got like 3 hours before the vultures arrive. That's why I've bought like 15% of 01preludes car in texas. Prices are good but s&h is killing me.
