What do you think Maybe? (Ground Control Coilovers)

I saw this on my local CL he's asking $175 for a set of GC coilover sleeves which in my mind is half bad considering they go for $300+ new.
I was saving up for a Set of Megan EZ Street coilovers but this seems like a good deal. I heard that this with Koni yellows is a great setup, but im not sure never really looked to much into the whole coilover sleeve thing since i always felt they were a waist but now im considering maybe going that route.
Anyone with experiences with these?
Are they worth it?
Should i just get the EZ Streets?
Also i heard that you have to cut the Konis for them to work on the GC is this true?
Honda Prelude Coil Overs - $175 (Wichita)
Thanks!

yeah you have to cut them buts its really not that hard to do you have to cut the spring seat off the strut body .. as far as buying used gc sleeves .. you will prolly be ok they dont tend to seize bad .. they gc sleeves are usually pretty easy to get free always liked how the lock rings clamp down .. gc and koni yellows is a great set up mo ..

Re: What do you think Maybe? (Ground Control Coilovers)

The Koni shock does not have to be cut/modified. You need to get the GC sleeves that fit/slide over the Koni shock body and correctly sit on the Koni seat perch.
I believe the correct GC sleeves you need to get for the Koni shock are 2.25" in diameter, and must have a lip on the edge of the sleeve so that the sleeve will sit tight on the Koni shock perch.

Re: What do you think Maybe? (Ground Control Coilovers)

yea from the looks of the picture those sleeves will not work on the Koni Yellow struts. and iirc to buy the sleeves that would fit the koni's is going to set you back about another $150 or so. 175 (GC) + 150 (sleeves) + 600 (Koni) = 925

just a little food for thought

but it is a GREAT set up, I love mine!!

Re: What do you think Maybe? (Ground Control Coilovers)

You have to order gc sleeves specifically for Koni shocks, and NO you do not have to modify the konis in any way, so take your sarcastic bull**** elsewhere TypeT.

if you have ever seen how and or what needs to be cut on some struts sleeve combos your wouldnt say it like a smart ass .. you are just removing the original spring seat .. not cutting the shock body .. there is nothing unsafe about cutting the seat to install certain sleeves .. i guess you dont have to for the konis .. i must have been thinking of kybs .. i know ive done it to install skunk sleeves ( per the instructions ) wouldnt want it to be done in an unsafe manor ..

Re: What do you think Maybe? (Ground Control Coilovers)

Not sure about the deal when paring GC's made for OTHER struts but you do need GC's that are made for Koni Yellows and there is one easy thing you need to modify and that's the metal dust boot for the front I had to do this on my bb6 but it was easy and definitely worth it! I say GC/Koni ftw!

Are their any pics/video of it being done? I bought them for $150 since the thread was messed up on one of them but its only on the very top part the area where i don't even see them going that high almost the last 3-4 threads on the sleeves.
