F20B: Shed some light.

Okay guys, my H22 is on it's last legs, methinks. The price of an H22 long block has gotten ridiculous over the past two years, so I was thinking of doing either an F22A turbo (lolz), or an F20B turbo. Either block can be had fairly cheap (<$700), and both have a lot of potential. The problem is, I can't seem to find anyone with any useful knowledge about the F20B. Does anyone here have any good knowledge, such as who would make internals for it, etc? I'd much rather an F20B, because I wouldn't have to move harnesses around.

Eh, I know many parts interchange with H22, aside from the valves themselves, and the injectors/rail. If I boosted it, I'd run a different intake manifold anyway, so that would solve the injection issue. The timing parts are all good. I know bisimoto makes rods and pistons, but we all know bisi is bank. For the price to build an F20 with bisi parts, I could get an H22 type-s motor lol. The F20B has a ton of potential, being the best of what the F blocks and H22 have to offer.

Also, I'm posting this at work. They monitor web usage, so I can't do quite as thorough a search as I can at home.

When i was doing some research a while back. I found out that as far as the F20b goes its pretty much a smaller H22.
If you want to get Head parts go with H22 parts if you want pistons and block parts go with the Accord F23. We have a Honda engine swap book at my work and look at it today to tell you what other parts are interchangeable for the F20B.

Depends what you want to do... f20bs are great boosting numbers stock.. you can definitely push them harder I can vouch for that LOL I'm currently running a f20b supercharged on 10lbs an I'm in love.:)

but all are related to the H22. S2K block similar to h22's, but a fukload stronger if a turbo'd stock/untouched block s2k can push out 600+whp reliably, see: s2k f20c wheelie, which according to owner of car lasted 60k miles with that set up. I forget if he kept the FRM sleeves or not, but stock block should mean he kept them.

sorry i'm off topic but have always been curious about that and haven't been able to dig up anything about the subject.

85mm bore vs 87mm
All F2X's are open decked, H22's vary open and closed.

Doesn't sound the same at all.

I was pretty sure the F2xC engines in the S2000 also had FRM liners just like the C32A in the NSX.

I was also under the impression that the F20B was basically an F series block mated to an H22 head. The timing belt is slightly different than an H22 and although it does fit, its a pain to get one on. That was the main reason why I didn't go F20B, ease of access to parts and cost of parts. I decided to get a USDM H22A4 and build it instead, any built H motor which is properly balanced should be able to attain the same high RPM capability as an F20B and make better power. Not to mention my buddy had an F20B in his lude and after one of his 9k pulls the crank snapped in half between cyl 3&4 lol.

Yes the s2k blocks are FRM, which is completely irrelevant to anyone/thing in this thread since s2k blocks aren't even closeeee to F22a/b blocks.

Dude, i just bought a f22b1 that already has new pistons and the kid gave me a complete engine reuid kit and a turbo for 300. they are easy to find, i just gotta figure what to do about the computer.

auto f20b = poop
manual f20b = type s cams

i talk to ronald regarding his manual f20b
and IIRC he setup is stock engine, euro R , 3 inch exhaust and its pushing 200whp

and a very important info he told me was after 7000-7500( cant fully remember) rpm it wasnt building any power anymore
and his tuner told him if he had better cams like the pro 2 he woulda add another 10-20 hp and can rev it even higher
