i think i broke something...

i bought some LEDs from autolumination.com over a year ago to do an LED swap, and i cant remember exactly what happened, but i ended up with only one working LED, the one that lights up my tach. never got around to fixing it until now, so i ordered some LEDs from lights on LEDs. when i was installing them, i took out and swapped the old with the new, turned my lights on, and the two top ones worked. i took my cluster out again and rotated the two bottom lights 180 degrees, plugged everything back in, turned the lights on, and got this burning smell with some smoke. and now i am back again with only one light that lights up the upper part of my tach. right after installation i had to drive, and it was dark, and as i was driving the one LED would flicker and then go out, and back on, and the next day it was totally fine. i tried changing the lights into different places and changing the LEDs into different screw lock bases, to see if maybe it was just the lights but now i have no lights whatsoever except the warning lights such as door open, low oil, cel, blinkers, etc. also there are no burnt spots or anything like that on the back of my cluster. i hate electricity and i'm not very good at teaching myself the basics of it so do i have to get whole new cluster or a new backing for it or what to get my gauge lights to work again? thanks in advance

Re: i think i broke something...

maybe some pics? if you have a voltmeter you could have the cluster out and test the voltages of the working lights against the non working lights.

Put the stock bulbs back in and see if they work. Some clusters need special wiring harnesses with resistors to run led bulbs.

Re: i think i broke something...

i dont have the stock ones anymore, but i took the bulb that lights up the blinker and tried it in one of the sockets that light up the whole display and nothing, turned it 180 degrees and still nothing, put it back in the blinker socket an it lit up, so its defiantly the back of the cluster thats bad right?

Re: i think i broke something...

my wife uses that stuff to make stencils. you print your deal with an inkjet printer, iron it onto glass and the ink-ed part disappears. then she grinds the outline of the stencil and viola.

i think it's the same thing..
