i need help finding my clutch

so about a month ago i noticed my clutch was getting soft, and later in the day, it was grabbing almost at the floor, so i checked the fluid, nothing was in there, so i bled the system and everything was fine. then three weeks later, same thing happened. so i bled it and checked for leaks. when through every inch of the line, nothing. then instead of failing all of a sudden, my pedal got softer and softer. so i tried to bleed it a third time, to last me another week or so, but there was no air at all, so now about twice a day i have to fill up my fluid, and just pump the pedal until i get pressure. what stumps me is, i cant find a leak anywhere. i have surfed this forum and others and from what i have gathered, if either the master or slave cylinder are going out, they would leak from the seals right? well around both cylinders, behind the clutch pedal, everywhere its dry, i dont know where all this fluid that i keep dumping into the resorvier is going. im still in high school getting only about 8 hours a week at my job so before i scrape enough together to buy a new master or slave cylinder, is it possible that its something else that i dont know about entirely or is it problay my cylinders are going bad? thanks
btw almost to 230k on an '01 base, and a new clutch 20k ago

Re: i need help finding my clutch

It's just weird because I'm putting in so much fluid and not seeing any leak out, it just seems to disappear

it sounds like you should be leaving puddles everywhere you go. download a repair manual and check chapter.. 12..transaxle.

Re: i need help finding my clutch

You said you checked the MC for leaks, but you didn't say you checked the slave for leaks.
Did you?

Re: i need help finding my clutch

the slave is wet underneath the boot, but its not near enough to take account for all the fluid, but i think it defiantly should be replaced. i heard its best to do both cylinders at the same time, or can i just get a new slave?

Re: i need help finding my clutch

Think about how often you press the clutch pedal. Every time you do that, its pushing some fluid past the worn seals of the slave.

Your car has 230K miles on it. Anything that is made of rubber is going to deteriorate over time, and if they're the original parts (seals, boots, gaskets, etc), how much longer do you think they're gonna last?

Its not NECESSARY to do both at the same time, its just smarter to
What if the master starts leaking the week after you do the slave?
Than you gotta bleed the system alllllll over again, which as you know, isn't a fun job.

Re: i need help finding my clutch

You could be leaking at the clutch damper or the banjo fitting on the trans....
