Dashboard swapped but temp and gas gauges dont work

I've recently swapped out the blue dashboard from my 92 Lude and installed a black dashboard from a 94 Lude. the tachometer and speedometer work fine, and so do the indicator buttons that include the oil, brake and so on. The issue is the temperature and gas gauges. For some reason these two gauges are not lighting up. My question is, is there a differnce in the wiring harness that is not allowing the gauges to light up. Could it be a faulty relay. One other thing, i have also swapped out the engine of the car and im not sure if that might have something to do with it. someone help!!

Re: Dashboard swap!

Are you using the same gauge cluster and whatnot? The electroluminescent (EL) cluster has a different lighting control box than the standard cluster does. It's possible those could be switched, as they have the same plug.

Re: Dashboard swap!

the car is a 92 and i put in a 94 dashboard which came with it, in essence it has the 94 cluster. are you suggesting that i use the original cluster?

Re: Dashboard swap!

the lights are up and running!! what i did is used the original temp/gas gauge cluster in the dashboard. i couldnt tell if the lights of the cluster that i pulled were burnt. Anyways, thanks you guys. on another note, its sometimes the small things that we overlook that make for unnessary headaches, you live and you learn.
